APRIL 2018: News, Events, and Opportunities for CASA Volunteers
Welcome and thank you to our newest volunteers!

Two new Court Appointed Special Advocates were sworn in by Fourth Judicial District Judge Billings-Vela at the courthouse in Cripple Creek on April 11.

L-R: New CASAs Kris Ackerman and Glenna Callarman, Teller County Program Manager Janet Stoddard, Teller County Commissioner Marc Dettenrieder, CASA ED Angela Rose, Judge Billings-Vela, and Volunteer Recruitment Manager Uriko Stout.

In addition to our newest advocates, we have four new Peer Coordinators. Carl Brantley, Jackie De'Anda, Jennifer LaRue, and Jessica Touchard just completed the peer coordinator training. We are grateful for their commitment to CASA as we continue to strive toward meeting our Vision 2020!

New Security & Door-Locking Policy at CASA Office
If you've visited our office over the past couple of weeks, you've probably noticed that the interior doors are locked. This is for security and will be the new policy going forward. When you arrive at the interior doors, just press the intercom button which is clearly marked with a sign. You'll be buzzed in and asked to sign in at the front desk. All visitors will need a visitor's badge, unless you're already wearing your CASA badge.
Table Host Opportunities for Light of Hope 2018

Light of Hope, our signature fundraising event, will be held on Wednesday, April 25th, from 7:30-8:30 AM and 12:30-1:30pm.

If you would like to fill a table of ten with people who have a heart for children and the capacity to support CASA, please contact Jill C. at jillc@casappr.org.
Looking for Volunteer Handyman & Front Desk Helper

From time to time, CASA needs volunteers for basic handyman or building maintenance work. If you'd like to volunteer your time in this capacity, please email Deb Cline. We are also
looking for some volunteers who could help cover our front desk and reception area during lunch hours. If you are interested, please contact Melissa Beers.
Need something to read? Here's some new content...

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each day this month, we've been posting a new story about our amazing volunteers who are doing something about child abuse right here in our community! By the end of the month, there will be 30 stories to read. Check them out each day on our 30-Stories-in-30-Days webpage.

We've also published our 2017 annual report. You can check that out here to get the scoop on all of our programs, as well as where we stand with Vision 2020!
Comfort your CASA kiddo with a new, custom quilt!

Volunteer Sandra Kyner has made several quilts for CASA children and has generously offered to make more.

There are a few designs available now in the Kids' Closet at the CASA building. She's also taking special requests though.

If you'd like to request a special quilt, send your child's age, gender, favorite colors, and a theme to Angela Rose
