November 2023

Dear Keri,

I can't believe it is November already! It is my hope that you all are looking forward to a feast next Thursday with loved ones.

Thank you so much to all the advocates who came out for Dudes & Brews last week. Your presence at events like this goes a long way in helping us to recruit more men to become volunteers. We have more Volunteer Info Sessions coming up, so be sure to let interested friends and family members know!

Santa's Shop opens on Dec. 12 and we look forward to seeing many of you there picking out gifts for your CASA kids! See more about Santa's Shop in the event calendar link below.

With the holidays fast approaching, please be advised of CASA's upcoming office closures. We will be closed Nov. 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving, and again from Dec. 25 - Jan. 1 for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Additionally, The Hanger will be closed on Nov. 25, Dec. 23, and Dec. 30.

Thank you for all that you do for these precious children we support. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me any time at angelar@casappr.org with questions, comments, or concerns!

Warmly,

Angela

What's for dinner on the 26th of the month?

On the 26th of each month, all three Parry's Pizzeria and Taphouse locations in Colorado Springs will give back a portion of their sales to CASA! All you have to do is say you are there for CASA when you order in or take out! Find a location here! If you're interested in representing CASA at a Parry's location, we need a volunteer for each location on the 26th of each month. Reach out to Elizabeth if you are interested!

Let's celebrate November anniversaries!

Twenty six advocates and one SEPT facilitator celebrate CASA volunteer anniversaries in November! Thank you to everyone who continues to show up for our kids year after year! Read all anniversaries here.

Inclusion Corner: November is Native American Heritage Month

November is a time to pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans. The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978 is a federal law that governs the removal and out-of-home placement of eligible American Indian children who are in the state's custody. ICWA establishes standards for the placement of Indian children in foster and adoptive homes and gives tribes legal authority in child welfare cases. Last summer, the U.S. Supreme Court made the decision to uphold the constitutionality of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). Read more here.
