Happy August! It was so nice to see and connect with many of you at the Pinery for the Volunteer Appreciation Event this month. We hope you feel appreciated for all the amazing work you do for our community's children!

With school back in session across southern Colorado, teachers are laying eyes on kids for the first time in a while, and we expect to see a rise in the number of reports made to the Child Abuse & Neglect Hotline. If you have friends or family that are interested in volunteering to help children, please make sure they know about our upcoming Volunteer Information Sessions!

We are excited to be planning our second Night of Hope fundraising event which will take place in February. We are looking for help on the planning committee. If helping in this manner is something that interests you, please email events@casappr.org.

What's for dinner on the 26th of the month?

On the 26th of each month, all three Parry's Pizzeria and Taphouse locations in Colorado Springs will give back a portion of their sales to CASA! All you have to do is say you are there for CASA when you order in or take out! Find a location here! If you're interested in representing CASA at a Parry's location, we need a volunteer for each location on the 26th of each month. Reach out to Elizabeth if you are interested!

Kid's Closet will be ready for winter next month! Coats will be out Sept. 18-22!

Make sure your little CASA ones are geared up for cooler weather by stopping by the CASA office Sept. 18-22 for a winter coat and other winter items. Make sure you come prepared with sizing info!

If you have a youth on your case who is in need of a basic scientific calculator for pre-algebra, algebra 1 and 2, trigonometry, or geometery - please contact mfcf@casappr.org.

Zoo Tickets – CASA has free Cheyenne Mountain Zoo tickets. We can give you ONE adult ticket and however many youth tickets needed per group. Free admission tickets cover youth up to age 18. Depending on who is attending, you may need to register in advance, so please email mfcf@casappr.org for more information.

Do you AND your CASA kid(s) love the guitar? We will be offering lessons this summer where the CASA can take lessons with their CASA kid. Please email mfcf@casappr.org for more details.

On Saturday, Sept. 9 from 12:30 - 2, CASA will offer "Life After the Storm - a Journey Through Trafficking," a sex trafficking awareness event for teens. Participants will hear from a trafficking survivor about her journey of being groomed and trafficked during her childhood and teen years while going in and out of group homes, hospitals, and juvenile hall. She has since worked extremely hard to rebuild her life and is now helping other trafficking survivors thrive. An Emergency Room nurse and FBI agent will also speak on the risks, signs, and how to protect yourself and your friends from trafficking. Lunch will be provided so RSVPs are required by end of day Wednesday, September 6, to mfcf@casappr.org.

August Anniversaries

Twenty advocates celebrate their CASA anniversaries in August, include Lynn Weber at 15 years and Barry Johnson-Fay, Joe Maio, and Sheila Maio at 13 years each! Thank you to everyone who serves!

Inclusion Corner: August 26 is Women's Equality Day!

Women's Equality Day became official in 1972 with a Proclamation from President Nixon. The day marks the adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment in the year 1920, which prohibits states and the federal government from preventing women from voting.
