Being Together While Staying Apart
|
|
Thank you to everyone who wrote to us last week to share how you are living, learning, worshiping, staying connected, and enjoying nature during this time!
to visit our Together Apart photo gallery. We will continue to add photos to the beginning of the album as we receive them, and share with you here in
The Globe
and over on Facebook. We also plan to share your great video content, so please keep an eye out for that as well.
As we look ahead to completing our first full week of learning from home, it's been heartening to see how well the children are adapting and rising to the challenge of our new circumstances. Many start their day in prayer and gratitude, and they continue to approach their lessons and contributions to family life with curiosity and enthusiasm. Thank you to our guides and staff for their commitment to creating a rich and engaging learning environment for the students, and to our parents and grandparents and their patience, partnership, prayers, and goodwill as we all continue to grow and learn as a community.
With today’s
announcement
that school closure and distance learning will continue until May 4, we are increasingly grateful for our community’s collective strength and dedication to partnership.

Reminder: Join SCM On a Whim
|
|
SCM On a Whim is our PSO-sponsored informal Google group - a great forum for parents to share resources and connect. If you didn't join at the beginning of the school year, now is a great time to do so.
Recent threads include ways to support SCM family-owned businesses; sewing patterns for hair covers, gowns and masks that can be donated to our local healthcare providers; and resources for activities to do at home.
Review the
On a Whim info sheet
and contact the group coordinator, Sarah Scherschel, at
smootx@sbcglobal.net
. Be sure to include your name, whose class you are in, and your preferred email address(es).

April is National Poetry Month
|

Dickinson, Frost, Hughes and Silverstein; we all have our favorite poets. So pull out your favorite book of poetry and celebrate their creativity!
SCM Library Manager Sarah Lewis would love to share ways to participate in National Poetry Month. Every April, the Academy of American Poets presents its Dear Poet project, which invites student grades 5-12 to watch videos of award-winning poets read their works, then write a letter in response to the poet.
