Every Day is Earth Day at St. Catherine's Montessori
On Thursday, April 22nd the world will celebrate Earth Day, but at St Catherine’s Montessori Earth Day is every day. At every level, students learn that we all have a role to play in keeping the earth healthy for the next generation. Our campus offers ample opportunity for children to explore a variety of plant life and habitats. Indoors we have pets in each environment that the children help care for daily. Students receive lessons throughout their Montessori journey that connect them to the importance of sustainability and minimizing our impact on Earth. This responsibility goes hand-in-hand with our Catholic identity and is central to our mission to guide our students to be stewards of the global community.

ADVANCING THE MISSION
A huge thank you to everyone who supported and attended last Saturday’s SCM Virtual Gala: A Celebration of Community! Truly a St. Catherine’s first, guests joined us from all over the country to enjoy a fun and heartfelt livestream featuring students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.

The evening reflected the unique nature of our community and celebrated the many ways we have remained connected throughout this year.

Through the generosity of our donors the event raised over $45,000 for the SCM Tuition Assistance Program, which provides tuition aid directly to St. Catherine’s families.

Thank you to our incredible families, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends who ensured SCM Virtual Gala was a night to remember. We look forward to gala-ing again with you all in 2022-2023.

HIGH SCHOOL CORNER
Join us for the Senior Capstone Presentation
Welcome back to the High School Corner!

We hope you will join us for the Senior Capstone Presentation on April 28 from 6-7:30pm. The senior capstone is an opportunity for the seniors to immerse ourselves in a self-designed project and to exercise adult-level independence as we transition out of St. Catherine’s High School and into the next chapter of our lives. The goals of the senior capstone are for students to:

  • Pursue self-guided research in an area of high individual interest

  • Demonstrate skills developed over the course of education at SCM, including those of managing a significant project

  • Develop connections and interact with professionals in the greater community

  • Think creatively about academic, social, and/or professional issues

  • Refine verbal and written communication skills by sharing research with the larger St. Catherine’s community

All of the seniors have been hard at work reaching out to mentors and creating our projects. The topics we have chosen are world religions, naval doctrine, hosting an art gallery, and food blogging. A link to RSVP to the virtual event can be found here!

Thank you for reading!
