Steps 4 Students rolls on at St. Catherine's! Last Friday, the High School and Ms. Veronica's Upper Elementary class kicked things off with our on-campus races, and the fun has continued.

On Saturday morning, several St. Catherine's families joined our friends in the Catholic school community for the downtown 5K Run/Walk. Those who stayed for the awards ceremony saw our very own Jackson H. receive his trophy for finishing first in his age group with a time of 20:44. Congratulations, Jackson!

Yesterday and today, the Adolescent Community, our Lower Elementary classes, and Mr. Snow's Upper Elementary class ran and walked our 5K course that took participants over the soccer field, around the school, and through the marsh. We will wrap up our school events tomorrow will a shorter course designed for our Primary children.

Thank you to everyone who has participated and donated this year. If you have not yet supported Team SCM with a donation, now is the time. Click here to make your gift by Monday, February 21st. Proceeds from Steps 4 Students support our tuition assistance program, which provides annual tuition aid directly to SCM families.
We look forward to sharing more photos from all of this year's Steps 4 Students activities next week. If you attended Saturday's race, please email your photos to [email protected] by next Tuesday. Thanks!
A LOOK INTO OUR COMMUNITIES
First Plane (Ages 0-6)
In the Infant Community the students are given the time and opportunity to engage in purposeful work to explore language, music, movement, and art, as well as practical life and fine and gross motor activities that meet their individual developmental needs. They practice skills such as buttoning, bead stringing, feeding classroom pets, and caring for themselves (including toileting) and for their environment.

Second Plane (Ages 6-12)
Ms. Veronica's Upper Elementary class is spending the week at Nature's Classroom Institute (NCI) in New Ulm, TX. The students are participating in various classes, exploring nature, and learning to live and work together. Their work is a mix of astronomy, geology, botanical identification, environmental studies, mapping, and food chain and Concord history.

Third Plane (Ages 12-18)
This year the Adolescent Community is going on a trip to Austin, TX as part of their study of government. In the AC, students take the lead in trip planning. They may research and pitch ideas of where they want to visit, and make calls to locations and restaurants to book dinners and events. They are so excited for this opportunity to travel again this March!
REMEMBERING OUR FOUNDRESS
"When I founded St. Catherine's Montessori School, I envisioned a special place where each child would receive a quality education and religious program responsive to his or her intellectual, physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs."

- Sister Edna Ann Hebert

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Sam Hemming has been part of the St. Catherine’s community for five years and currently serves as the facilities manager and athletic director. He and his wife, Amelia, have a son named Alban and twins on the way this summer. Sam asks for your prayers!

What he loves most about St. Catherine’s is the uniqueness; it's hard to find the right words to do it justice. “The freedom of the child here is what it is all about and the room for friendships to grow is incredible, whether it is with fellow staff members or the students themselves.”
