Reenrollment Due February 11

The reenrollment packet for current students is now available online via  ParentsWeb . Please check your email for instructions to complete reenrollment. The deadline to submit reenrollment is  Monday, February 11, 2019

New Student Applications Due February 14

Please submit any sibling applications for new students by the application deadline of Thursday, February 14, 2019 . You can access the Online Application on the SCM website by going to Admissions tab and selecting  Online Application

Spirit Day is Friday, January 25

Primary and Elementary Parents: Join Us for Montessori Night School on Thursday, January 31
Montessori Night School is next Thursday, January 31. The evening is an opportunity for parents to see Montessori work in action, as Primary and Elementary children will show you their classrooms and demonstrate the lessons they are learning. In Ms. Maggie and Mr. Snow’s Upper Elementary classrooms, the students will host a food fair and a science fair.

The Primary classrooms will be open from 5:30 to 6:45 PM. The Elementary classrooms will be open from 6:45 to 8:00 PM.

Free childcare will be available in the Gym for currently-enrolled SCM students in Primary and above. Parents with multiple children are encouraged to use the childcare while they visit each classroom with their children individually.
Reminder: Classroom Observations for Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary and Adolescent Community 
If you have a child moving up to Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, or the Adolescent Community next year, and are interested in observing a classroom, please email Julie McLarry at  [email protected] to schedule an observation. Observations are by appointment only .

Strollers are welcome on the rink for our tiniest guests, toddlers can bring push toys or scooters, and Skatemate walkers are available for beginners. Bring your socks if you plan to borrow rental skates, or you can bring your own. Come on out, lace up your skates and roll with us!

Team SCM’s Steps 4 Students Roster Reaches 163 Members
St. Catherine’s Montessori is off to the races! In seven days ~70 new teammates have registered for Steps 4 Students! Your pink shoes look great on the Welcome Center windows. To those who have not yet registered: With a little more than three weeks until race day, there’s still time to join our ranks.

Last year, St. Catherine’s Montessori had the fourth largest S4S team with 442 members, and our goal is to surpass that number in 2019.  Register today to demonstrate your St. Catherine’s spirit and raise funds for our Tuition Assistance Program. 

Individual registration is $20, and there is a discount for families of four or more. Don't wait - the price increases to $30 on February 1, 2019! Race Day is Saturday, February 16.

PSO New Parent Welcome Committee Hosts Morning Child Playdate, Friday, January 25
The PSO New Parent Welcome Committee invites the AM children and their parents to a playdate on the SCM soccer field on Friday, January 25. Immediately after 11:30 AM dismissal, enjoy light snacks, great conversations, and an open field to run and play in (parents too!).
PSO Winter Meeting
Join the PSO for its winter meeting on Friday, February 1 at 8:30 AM in the Gym.
PSO Book Club book: Friday, February 8 
The PSO Book Club will discuss  UnSelfie: Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in Our All-About-Me World by Dr. Michelle Borba on Friday, February 8 at 8:30 AM in the Gym. All are welcome to attend – even if you have not read the book!

Track Season will begin on Monday, February 11. Please register your child via  ParentsWeb before the season starts. The practice schedule will be as follows:
 
Upper Elementary
Monday and Wednesday: 2:30-3:15 PM
 
Adolescent Community
Monday – Thursday: 3:30-4:30 PM
 
All Upper Elementary students are invited to stay for the 3:30-4:30 PM practices as long as they have permission from their parents, and it doesn’t interfere with a prior commitment.

INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
AC and HS Visual Arts Exhibit and AC Literary Magazine to Premiere at Montessori Night School, January 31
Join us on January 31 during Montessori Night School for an exhibit of original visual art featuring mixed media, photography, paintings, and sculpture presented by the Adolescent Community and High School.

Montessori Night School also will feature the launch of the AC Literary Arts Magazine, Paragraphs & Page s. This publication includes original poems, stories, and essays. The magazine is available for a minimum donation of $5.

The AC Literary Magazine, along with tickets to the AC Musical, handmade soap, honey from the AC Hives, eggs from the SCM chickens, and fruits and vegetables from the AC Gardens at Japhet Creek are products sold by the student-operated AC Enterprises. All monies earned through the sale of these products are reinvested into AC Enterprises for supplies and to defray costs.

Students learn real life applications of economics, chemistry, horticulture, animal husbandry, marketing, creative expression, and more through these Adolescent Community endeavors.
