Words to Live By
A Message from Sandra Espinosa, SCM Counselor and Health Care Coordinator
Dear St. Catherine’s Community,

It’s the start of a new year and I don’t know about you, but I have always loved this time of year. In my mind, it is a clean slate, and a vast feeling of hope arises in me that all things are possible in the New Year. It is also a great time to reflect on the past year on what we have learned through our many varied life experiences and what we want to let go of that is no longer serving us.

So moving forward, what do we want to call in? In other words, what intention or quality do we want to cultivate in the coming year? How will we choose to bring forth things that we want to feel more of in this, “one wild and precious life of ours?” (As poet Mary Oliver posed).

SCM Teacher and Staff Holiday Appreciations
Dear Parents,

Thank you for the outpouring of words of appreciation to the staff and teachers at SCM. Because of your kind contributions, the PSO created personalized notes for everyone who works so hard to nurture the growth and development of our children. And because of your financial contributions, the PSO provided a catered lunch for the January 4 Employee In-service Day.

Thank you for your help with these projects!

PSO Book Club Meets Thursday, February 25
The SCM Book Club is pleased to announce our next book selection. We will be discussing the book “Biased: Uncovering the Hidden Prejudice That Shapes What We See, Think, and Do” by Jennifer L. Eberhardt, Ph.D. on Thursday February 25th at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom.

While we can’t be together in person, we can still share a drink together. Here is a recipe for a fun spring cocktail you can make before settling into this conversation.

High School Corner
Boston Tea Party
Welcome back to the High School Corner!

To ring in the New Year and celebrate our first day back at school after Christmas Break, the High School had a Hamilton watch party! While this was inspired partly by our discerning taste in musical theatre, the musical was a perfect tie-in to our focus on the American Revolution in Humanities class this semester. To ensure this was a top-notch Hamilton watch party we paired it with a (literal) ‘Boston Tea Party.’

Check out the High Schoolers in action drinking delicious tea and dunking shortbread cookies!

Thank you for reading!
