May 4, 2022
This past Saturday, the St. Catherine’s community gathered for our annual PSO Spring Fling. Nearly 400 guests attended, including many alumni families and several new families who will join us in the fall. Everyone enjoyed visiting with friends, listening to the great music provided by alumni parent, Nuri Nuri, and feasting on many options at the potluck dinner. The beautiful flower arrangements were made by the students with flowers donated by Trader Joe’s.

We also honored Susan Tracy with a retirement presentation that included a slideshow, heartfelt speeches, a gift from the community, a beautiful cake, and the announcement of an anonymous $10,000 gift made as a testament to her many years of service and dedication to the families at St. Catherine’s. The one-time Susan Tracy Scholarship will be awarded to a family for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.

Spring Fling could not have been the success that it was without the many members of the SCM community. A great big thanks to event chair Tracey Ledoux and the planning committee for coordinating everything, and to the dedicated event volunteers who made it happen:

A LOOK INTO OUR COMMUNITIES
First Plane (Ages 0-6)
This time of year the Infant Community has reached an amazing period of normalization and productive activity. For the most part everyone is working independently and needing little assistance. All of the children are so kind and caring to one another. The nurturing to the younger children and the spontaneous willingness to help by the older children is a constant joy to see. Click the picture to see more!
Second Plane (Ages 6-12)
Ms. Kristen's Lower Elementary class has been busy baking bread. They oversaw the process from start to finish, which included making a grocery list, figuring out costs, grocery shopping, and staying within budget. There truly is nothing better than freshly baked bread! Click the picture to see more.
Third Plane (Ages 12-18)
On April 21st, the senior class held an in-person presentation of their capstone projects. The senior capstone is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a self-designed project and exercise adult-level independence as they transition into the next chapter of their lives. Students are able to pursue self-guided research in an area of high individual interest and develop connections by interacting with professionals in the greater community. STAFF SPOTLIGHT
For the past 12 years Susan has worked tirelessly to uphold the mission and vision of St. Catherine’s while staying true to the Catholic Dominican charism and Montessori principles and approach. During her time at SCM Susan has imparted growth and change, not only to the student body, faculty and staff, parents and families, but also to the physical building and program. She has enriched the school by making sure we are following AMI standards across all levels, increasing professional development opportunities, maintaining beautiful and functional building and grounds, ensuring financial stability, expanding the Adolescent program through grade 12, and maintaining focus on the needs of the child.
