SCM Fund Phone-a-thon: Thanks for answering our call!
Last evening’s phone-a-thon was a great success thanks to the efforts of our SCM Fund Classroom Representatives and the parents who were so responsive to their outreach. St. Catherine’s truly is a special place, and the laughter that rang down the administration hallway in the evening hours reflected just how much our community enjoys coming together in support of our school – even if it’s over the phone during bathtime. Together we moved parent participation from 53% to 62%!

Check out your classroom’s progress from last week, and  click here  to make your gift today. To pledge a specific amount today and give later, please contact Lyndsey Ray at  [email protected] .
Thank you to our  donors   who have led the way in this year’s SCM Fund! We are thankful for you all and for your heartfelt dedication to the Fund’s motto: Every Family for Every Child .

Mocktails, Cocktails & #MomFails
Adults (21+); Open to Alumni Parents
Calling all moms! After a full Saturday of soccer games, birthday parties, piano lessons, ballet classes, and oh yeah did we mention birthday parties (?) — Mama needs a minute! For all the miles you've spent schlepping your sweet little ones all over town, for the middle of the night wake ups, for the times you've tried to get it right but got it oh so wrong— it's time to treat yourself. Let's get a refreshing and extra delicious cocktail in your hand...or in both hands, no judgement here. And, for the expecting mom, or for the mom that wants to go alcohol-free, you deserve more than a boring ol' Topo Chico or plain bottle of water. Let's dress up that non-alcoholic bevvy and get creative with a cool and tasty mocktail that is sure to amp up your evening! For the mom whose only sustenance that day was a several days old banana and a handful of goldfish, we've got you covered. There will be an array of delectable treats, both savory and sweet, to fill that tummy (that may have seen it's better days, but Jesus, Mary and Joseph so help us if anyone mentions their morning Peloton or Orange Theory workout while we're stuffing our faces). Moms of SCM, please join us for a fun, festive, casual evening where we can all drink, eat, and be merry!

HIGH SCHOOL CORNER
Welcome back to the High School Corner!

This year, we have been engaging in community service work with Casa de Esperanza de los Niños, an organization in Houston that “strives to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children and their families by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs.” St. Catherine’s relationship with Casa is a long-standing one, and our community is still connected to Casa through the Christmas pajama drive, for example. Casa’s teen program is something they’ve always wanted to further develop, and this is where our high school comes in.

As of now, our role at Casa is to organize events a few times a year, make birthday boxes full of birthday celebration materials (such as candles, party hats, and streamers) whenever it is a child’s special day, and deliver meals weekly to some of those living at Casa.

On October 26, for instance, we held our first event at Casa. Planned alongside our peers and guides, this Halloween-themed event featured cookie decorating, pumpkin painting, trick-or-treating, beanbag toss, and more. This was the first time we were able to interact with the children for a sustained period of time, and it was so special. Some were happy to just sit in one of our laps, others wanted to run around the whole time, a few spent 90% of the time at the snack table, and one two-year-old was fascinated with the numbers 1-10 and was content to just watch us write the numbers over and over again. It was fun to get to know each of the children, and we are all the more connected to our community service project because of the event. We look forward to more in the spring semester!
Feel free to check out the Casa website for more information. We are blessed to be able to serve our community through such a powerful organization.

Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We will be back with another entry on December 4th!
