The Glorious Incarnation of God
|
In our Lord's descent from His majestic position in eternity past, Jesus was “made in the likeness of men” through a miraculous conception and a virgin birth. The uncreated, infinite and eternal nature of God was fully integrated with the finite, created nature of man. Deity and humanity came together in perfect unity. The majestic brilliance and glory of the eternal Son of God was concealed by the perishable flesh of humanity. He was born like us so that we might become like Him. Jesus had to become one of us so that He could be our kinsmen redeemer.
God’s Profound and Unfathomable Wisdom
This is such an amazing testimony of God’s profound and unfathomable wisdom. He provided a way to redeem sinful mankind without violating His unchangeable attributes of holiness, righteousness and justice, while at the same time displaying His love, mercy and amazing grace. "Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!" (Rom. 11:33). Man’s perfect God became God’s perfect man to satisfy divine justice as a sinless substitute for His people. "He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people" (Heb. 2:17).
The Ultimate Condescension of Christ
In light of this awesome reality, the incarnation of Jesus was the ultimate condescension. The Creator took on the form of the created, and the infinite became the finite. "Although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross" (Phil. 2:6-8). The Lord Jesus was born to die as a substitute for His people. As a bond-servant, Jesus carried the burden that no other bond-servant could carry, that is, the sin-burden of everyone who would ever repent and believe in Him.
Christ Has Done What Man Could Never Do
The Lord Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. He lived a sinless life of perfect obedience then offered Himself, the eternal God-man, and cancelled the eternal sin debt for those who repent and believe His Gospel. The perfect High Priest, offered Himself, the perfect sacrifice, to a perfect God who demands perfection, and then declared in victory, "It is finished" (John 19:30). Because of the "joy set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Heb. 12:2). As our High Priest, He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Heb. 7:25).
The Glorious Exaltation of Christ
God "seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and [above] every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come" (Eph. 1:20-21). His crown of thorns was exchanged for the crown of a King. The suffering Servant was exalted to be the King of kings. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever" (1 Tim. 1:17). He is worthy of all of our praise and worship now and forever!

Methodists Pursue Unity with Catholics
|
The Methodist-Roman Catholic International Commission met with Pope Francis, Oct. 8, in a private audience and presented him the report of God in Christ Reconciling: On the Way to Full Communion in Faith, Sacraments and Mission. Pope Francis noted that both Catholics and Methodists need to repent and return to the Father in order for unity to come about, because through their divisions, both have sinned and strayed from the Father. Letters to Edify and Encourage the Saints

Mike, I watched a message you gave about the errors of the Catholic church and am utterly dumbfounded by what you preached. Are you knowingly spreading deception to make yourself feel justified in your sin, or do you really have problems with reading comprehension? For instance, salvation being a free gift from God is never stated anywhere in the New Testament, but it is a deception that protestant pastors choose to preach. It is a person's deeds and the motives that determine one's state in being saved or not. The easy salvation message is not supported in the New Testament in any passage. G.L., Internet
Dear G.L., Perhaps you have not read your Bible well enough to know that salvation is a free gift from God. Two verses immediately come to mind. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Eph. 2:8). The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 6:23). After repenting sinners receive the gift of salvation by God’s grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, then we are to do the good works which God prepared beforehand for us (Eph. 2:10).
Mike, I’m in South Louisiana which is 90% Roman Catholic Thank you for your clear, concise, antithetical, biblical, documented and referenced teaching. I have been in conversations with many Catholics here. They are well programmed. They get very upset at the truth. and take sides against the “villain”, even having their kids avoid your kids. Lynn, Internet
Mike and Jane, it was so nice to meet you at Baltimore Bible Church. I'll always be grateful for your ministry and how it brought me to Christ seven years ago, and how you directed me to a doctrinally sound church. Thank you for your obedience to the Lord in sharing the Gospel and ministering to those caught up in bondage to the false religion of Catholicism - you're both a great blessing to the body of Christ. Hope to see you again soon! K.B., Bel Air, Maryland
Dear Mike, I am a Catholic. Jesus Christ started one Church, the Catholic Church. You are in error here. You have no authority. In Paul’s letter to Timothy, “the pillar and foundation of truth is the Church”. Not the Bible. Ironically, it is Scripture written by the Catholic Church that you claim to follow and interpret yourself. How sad you are so deceived, Mike, and that you are deceiving so many. The Catholic Church's teachings are pure truth and “the gates of hell will not prevail against her”, as Jesus promised. Mark, Sydney, Australia
Thank you Mike, for your wisdom and advice. I wanted to update you about my daughter who wants to join the RCC. We have started going through your book Preparing for Eternity together and your sermon Which Jesus Do You Trust? She admitted that she is now having a hard time justifying joining a church that teaches Mary can save her and that priests have the power to call Jesus down from heaven. I am not sensing her same proud and defiant spirit that I did before. I do, however, sense that she has not completely committed to denouncing Catholicism as apostate but she has moved leaps and bounds back towards the truth. We will continue going through your book and videos together and I continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to help and guide her. I know you are very busy doing the Lord’s work but I ask that you would keep her in your prayers. I will keep you posted. Name Withheld

Archbishop Rebukes Joe Biden on Abortion
|
Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput says that Joe Biden is no longer in communion with the Catholic Church due to his stance on abortion and priests should not give him communion. Chaput said that “any priest who provides Communion to the president participates in his hypocrisy.” This is one of the strongest condemnations of Joe Biden’s stance on abortion as a self-professed catholic and it comes from a very high ranking voice in the Church. Biden has promoted abortions up to birth repeatedly and also supports legislation to implement abortions up to birth nationwide. Read more.

Pope Criticizes German Catholics
|
Pope Francis does not want "another" Protestant Church in Germany, echoing fears that reforms could split the Catholic Church. Contentious issues include female deacons and blessing same-sex marriages. He warned German Catholics against implementing reforms amid declining membership. Record numbers of Germans have left their congregations in recent years, with church membership dropping below 50% for the first time in 2021. Read more.
