4th Sunday after Easter

Sermon Title: "Do Overs and Second Chances"

Sacred Text: John 21:9-17

Worship (in-person and online) at 11:15 AM

A Word from Rev. Renae
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just need a do over and a second chance to do better. Many of the disciples also needed a second chance. Remember Thomas who proclaimed that unless he sees Jesus and touches his nail scarred hands, he would not believe that Jesus had risen from the dead? Jesus gave him a second chance to believe. Remember James and John who wanted a guaranteed spot of honor when Jesus came into his glory? When Jesus died, they were nowhere to be found, hiding in fear that the same thing that happened to Jesus would happen to them. But the resurrection of Jesus means that they got a do over…a second chance.

Then there is Peter, who is the main character of our Sunday scripture. He, too, is in need of a do over. The one who denied knowing Christ three times, needs a second chance. And Jesus not only offers him a second chance but re-commissions him. Is there an area in your life where you need a do over? Join us on Sunday as we learn about the gift of do overs and second chances.

Help Raise Funds for Efforts in Ukraine
MCC's Global Justice Institute is collecting money for much needed support for those in Ukraine. After much consideration, they have chosen to partner with two individuals working with efforts on the ground that they were able to verify. One has to do with technology. Night vision drones are needed to find safe times for fleeing and to get supplies to those hiding. The second is to care for those who are wounded and need medical access or emergency care. They are putting together backpacks with supplies to save up to 10 lives. If you are able to donate to their efforts, click here. The Global Institute raises funds through MCC of New York. Just click "Ukraine Support" on the drop down box.
