Dear Gold Corner Friends,
September is upon us and with it comes new beginnings. For some, the beginning of school, for all of us the beginning of a new season filled with many holiday celebrations. It is so easy to get caught up in the many events of fall, that we forget to stop and enjoy the crisp nights, the changing colors of the leaves, and the last couple months of yet another year.
I am trying to focus on enjoying the rest of this year to the fullest. I have spent most of the summer working on new designs for the store, collaborating with our various producers to create innovative designs with exciting new mediums. You may have noticed I am exploring stones this year, from the Alexandrite to Black Diamonds!
My new beginning for the fall is our annual Trunk Show. I am very excited for this year's show, as we will have many new designs that feature absolutely gorgeous stones, all five colors of gold, and, of course, a few fun surprises up my sleeve!
I hope you get to enjoy these fall days as we begin the rush to the year's end and I look forward to hopefully seeing you at our show in November!
Ci Vediamo Presto!

Sophisticated Ladies of September, Your Birthstone is Sapphire!
Happy birthday to all of our extended Gold Corner Family that are born in September! You are very lucky to have such an elegant gemstone as your birthstone- Sapphires. Sapphire means "blue" in Greek, but in reality a Sapphire can come in many different colors., for example: white, yellow and rose. Sapphires can vary in colors of blue, ranging anywhere from a dark blue to a pale shade of blue, and the finest Sapphires have a very strong color of blue that tends to radiate this hue.
Sapphire is often called the "stone of prosperity" because it is attributed to mental clarity and perception, and often promotes financial reward. The stone is also referred to as the "stone of destiny" because it helps the wearer achieve their aspirations.
Sapphires are also said to promote beauty to the wearer by removing negativity that blocks one's beauty. Sapphires are said to have
the power to heal nausea, headaches, body pain, vertigo and allergies.

In recent months, Sapphires have become a very popular choice as an engagement ring, in part due to the April wedding of Prince Charles and Kate Middleton. Sapphires are a unique but very suitable choice for an engagement ring because they are representative of truth, sincerity, and faithfulness- all wonderful qualities in which to base a marriage.Kate Middleton now adorns the late Princess Diana's Sapphire engagement ring as her own engagement ring. This ring has approximately a 12-carat oval Ceylon Sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds set in 18 Kt. White Gold.

Cama Deruta: Hand Crafted and Painted Ceramic Pottery
Roberta Niccacci is a dear friend of the Gold Corner, she is the owner of one of the oldest and most beautiful ceramic pottery studios in Italy. Roberta's grandfather was the fist businessman to establish a cooperative in Deruta, Italy in

1950. Her parents took over the business in 1972 and continued the Cama traditions and also added new styles and designs. Roberta's father, Renato, realized that tourists shops were not always carrying the highest quality ceramics and when Roberta was 13 she began translating and interpreting for her father as he expanded and began selling to businesses overseas. In 1980, Cama Deruta began selling their ceramics to retailers in the United States.
Now, Roberta is taking the business to a personal level by reaching out directly to clients in their country of origin, instead of selling to large retailers.
All of the ceramic pottery featured on their site is hand made and hand painted. Cama Deruta has preserved an art style that reflects antique and modern Italian ceramic designs.
We love their products and the story behind them and hope that you will too!

Fope:
Four Generations of Jewelers
For more than 80 years Fope has been an important actor in the industrial district of Vincenza, Italy. It all started in 1929, when Umberto Cazzola opened a handcrafted goldsmith's laboratory with about 20 workers. Today, Fope is run by two generations simultaneously, Umberto Jr. and his daughter Giulia. Together, they have transformed the company in recent years by creating innovative designs that have solidified the brand as an internationally recognized symbol of luxury. Fope upholds Umberto Senior's, dedication to handcrafted artisan workmanship, while adding comfort and modernity to the already beautiful designs. Fope is the first brand to create a flexible bangle made entirely of gold. The Flex' It line does not have clasps of any kind, they just roll right on one's wrist- this is all made possible by 60 gold springs that are placed by hand in between each link! The Flex' It collection is available in all three colors of gold, (white, yellow and rose) and can be adorned with semi-precious stones, diamonds or pearls.
We are very exited to bring with us on the Trunk Show this November the newest additions to the Fope collections! Thank you for reading our Newsletter! Please email us with any questions or inquires. A Presto! |

Panzanella
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf of day-old bread (unsalted Tuscan is most authentic)
- 3 Seedless Cucumbers
- 6 Tomatoes (Roma/San Marzano/Plum varieties suggested)
- 8 Basil leaves
- 1 Large Red Onion
- 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
- Salt & Pepper
Preparation: - Take the day-old bread, and lightly moisten it under the faucet. It should be moistened all the way through. If it's too wet, gently squeeze excess water from the bread with your hands and set aside while chopping vegetables. (The bread should crumble, not clump/collapse or get soggy).
- Shred the bread into a large salad bowl. Some like to keep several larger pieces of bread in their Panzanella or crumble the bread down until it is a very fine consistency that almost resemble couscous.
- Cut the peeled cucumbers and tomatoes into quarter inch dice and add them to the bowl. Thinly slice a red onion and chiffonade the basil.
- Whisk together 1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar and 3 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Add salt and pepper and adjust to taste. Toss together with the Pazanella.
The salad can be served immediately or chilled for 30 minutes in the refrigerator before serving. BUON APPETITO!
Wine Pairings: A well balanced Vernaccia with soft and fresh acidity would go great with Panzanella! |

Featured Florence Attraction:
Biennial International Antique Fair of Firenze
The Biennial Antique Exhibit in Florence was first launched 1959. Today, it is one of the most significant Italian art exhibits in the world. The auction begins on October 1st until October 9th and it is hosted at Palazzo Corsini. The show will consist of eighty-eight antiquarians: 74 Italian and 14 foreign.
 | Location of the Exhibit: Palazzo Corsini in Firenze |
Collectors can browse over 3,000 objects for sale as well as have art authenticated. With laws in place restricting the sale and export of items of national importance over 50 years old, the event is well-attended by those seeking official export licenses which in some cases can be expedited at the event.
If you are going to be in Florence during the Biennial Antique Exhibit, we recommend it as something that you must see.
