When Mawlana Shaykh Nazim ق completed his seclusion in Baghdad and prepared to depart, he visited the maqam of Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani ق. There, the great Ghawth appeared to him in the flesh, saying:
“O my son, I am happy with the states you have reached in the Naqshbandi Order. I am renewing your initiation to me through the Qadiri Order.”
He embraced Mawlana and gifted him ten coins—coins from his own lifetime, not ours. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim ق treasured them always, a sign of eternal connection between the Naqshbandi and Qadiri paths.

Sultān al-Awliyaʾ, Ghawth al-Aʿẓam, Shaykh ʿAbdul Qādir al-Jilani ق
The Pole of his time, whose maqām in Baghdad continues to radiate light.
Shaykh ʿAbdul Qādir al-Jilani ق combined two things rarely united in one person:
ʿIlm ash-Sharīʿah, deep mastery of Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and ʿUlūm al-Qur’an (he memorized and explained all fourteen qirāʾāt); andʿIlm at-Tasawwuf-- he lived the reality of asceticism, seclusion, and annihilation of the ego.
Because of this balance, he was recognized as the Qutb al-Awliyāʾ (Pole of Saints), a source of outward and inward guidance.
Shaykh ʿAbdul Qādir ق was given the highest station of sainthood in his time — al-Ghawth al-Aʿẓam (the Supreme Succor/Helper). The Ghawth is the spiritual pole of the age, the one through whom divine succor reaches creation.
His shaykh clothed him in the jubba of irshād (cloak of guidance), authorizing him to guide seekers. From Baghdad, his teachings spread East and West, and seekers flocked to him for knowledge, purification, and spiritual sustenance.
Maqām al-Jihād an-Nafs (station of struggling against the self)
Before he became known, he endured years of extreme hardship in the deserts of Iraq: hunger, thirst, sleepless nights, and total detachment from dunya. This crushed his ego (riyaḍah an-nafs) and opened his heart to divine secrets.
Maqām al-Qurb (station of nearness to Allah)
Through his sincerity, Allah ﷻ granted him proximity and the power to sustain others spiritually. He inherited from the Prophet ﷺ the secret of being al-Qāsim — the distributor of divine provision (both physical and spiritual).

Abu Hamid Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al-Ghazali ق, known as Imam Al-Ghazali, was a prominent philosopher and theologian during his time. He connected the realms of Tasawwuf, and Sharia, a set of religious laws, and fearlessly contested the teachings of leading Greek philosophers. Al-Ghazali penned over 70 books on philosophy, Sufism, and science, including “The Incoherence of Philosophers,” a critique of philosophers linked to the Greek school. He passed away in 505 AH/1111 CE in his hometown of Tus, in the Khorasan region of present-day Iran.
Imam Ghazali said, “You must know that Allah removed all the veils of ignorance and brought people to the state of vision through their continuous Dhikr. The first stage of Dhikr is the Dhikr of the Tongue, then the Dhikr of the Heart, then the Appearance of the Divine Presence in the reciter of dhikr, making him no longer need to do dhikr.” (Source)

Shaykh Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi ق, known as Shaykh al-Akbar (the Greatest Master), Ibn ‘Arabi ق was born in Murcia, al-Andalus (Spain). A prodigy in Qur’an, Hadith, and Shari‘ah, he later traveled widely—through North Africa, Mecca, Anatolia, Damascus—meeting scholars, saints, and seekers.
He authored more than 300 works, the most famous being al-Futuhat al-Makkiyya (The Meccan Openings) and Fusus al-Hikam (The Bezels of Wisdom), which continue to shape Sufi metaphysics. He passed away in Damascus in 638 AH/1240 CE, where his maqam remains a place of ziyara and inspiration.
According to Mawlana Shaykh Hisham, Muhyideen ibn `Arabi (q) said:
“Our minds create images in front of us, but the reality has not yet been reached.” So we are in a box with holes, seeing the light from inside the box. The box represents the ego that, when you break it, you will be in reality." (Source)

Sacred Appointments: Five Times a Day
Shaykh Nour Kabbani
September 26, 2026
Burton, MI
Be present where Allah ﷻ calls you to be, and show up when He invites you to show up. The five daily prayers are sacred appointments — do not place yourself where Allah does not want you. Can anything be hidden from the One who sees all? When Allah calls, answer at once, with your whole being.
We will remove whatever bitterness they had in their hearts.1 Rivers will flow under their feet. And they will say, “Praise be to Allah for guiding us to this. We would have never been guided if Allah had not guided us. The messengers of our Lord had certainly come with the truth.” It will be announced to them, “This is Paradise awarded to you for what you used to do.”
Surah Al- 'Araf (7:43)

"Two Bow Lengths Or Nearer"
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani,
This comprehensive volume delves deeply into the spiritual realities and exalted status of Sayyidinā Muhammad ﷺ, the Prophet of Islam, as understood through the rich Sufi teachings of the Naqshbandi-Haqqani tradition. It explores the profound knowledge, divine light, and unique spiritual hierarchy connected to the Prophet ﷺ, emphasizing the transformative power of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), the significance of the Prophet’s ﷺ intercession—not just to his community, but to all human beings and even the invisible creations known as the Jinn--and the essential role of spiritual guides and saints in the believer’s path toward divine proximity. At the heart of the discourse is the unparalleled status of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who was created first as the primordial Light of Muhammad ﷺ, the first creation of Allah from which all other creation and prophets emanate. This reality is infinite and beyond human comprehension, reflecting his eternal closeness to Allah and his role as Habeebullah—the Beloved of Allah—who receives from Allah without asking. The Prophet’s ﷺ love and mercy are central to the spiritual journey of Muslims, with his intercession (shafaʿah) being indispensable for the salvation of the Ummah and even the jinn. His spiritual presence and breath hold immense power, surpassing the lifetimes of all other prophets combined.
