Ground Broken for Destination Playground in Travis Bryan Midtown Park

Midtown Legacy Park, a destination playground for all ages and abilities, is arriving soon in Travis Bryan Midtown Park, providing a signature experience for residents and visitors to enjoy in the world-class park.


City Council, city leadership, major donors and Lone Star Recreation representatives celebrated the launch of the playground at a ceremonial groundbreaking on Monday, May 18. Construction is expected to begin this summer, with the playground opening in early 2027.


The playground will feature 119 play components, more than 12,000 square feet of shade and enough room for parents and guardians to interact with their children. A variety of accessible components will also allow children with wheelchairs or walkers, or mothers with strollers, to enjoy the playground.

City Offices Closed May 25 for Memorial Day

City offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. Residential solid waste and brush/bulky routes will be picked up as normal. Bryan Aquatic Center, Sadie Thomas Pool, Lake Bryan and Legends Event Center will be open.

Kick Off Pool Season at Slide Into Summer

Pull out the swimsuit and sunscreen, it’s time to slide into summer at the Bryan Aquatic Center! Summer pool season kicks off at this annual event, Monday, May 25, from 1 – 7 p.m. Admission is $3 for ages 4 to 11 and $4 for ages 12 and up.

Tickets on Sale for Bryan Yard Dogs Games

The inaugural Bryan Yard Dogs season at Travis Major Field is underway after Opening Day took place on Thursday, May 21. Get your tickets now for the rest of the opening homestand: May 22 - 24 against Beaumont and May 26 - 28 against Piney Woods.

Now Hiring Summer Swim Instructors

Make a difference this summer by teaching swimming lessons! The City of Bryan is hiring part-time swim instructors for the summer. Ages 16+ are invited to apply, and the city can assist with earning necessary certifications.

City Summer Camps Begin June 1

Got plans for your kids this summer? The City of Bryan offers two full-day camps, Camp HERO and Neal Recreation Center Summer Camp, from June 1 - July 24. Registration is open for both camps, and fees vary per session.

Summer Reading Program: Unearth a Story

Roar into summer reading! Registration for the BCS Library System's Summer Reading Program is open. The summer kicks off June 1 with parties at Ringer and Mounce libraries. This summer, enjoy reading challenges, events, an art contest for kids and a writing contest for adults.

Students entering grades 9 - 12 in the fall are invited to apply for the free Bryan Police Department Junior Police Academy. Classes run July 20 - 30. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside real police officers and learn what they do every day. Applications are now open!

Youth Football Camp Offered by Bryan Youth Sports Association

Hall of Fame Coach Jackie Sherrill will lead a veteran lineup of coaches as they teach the fundamentals of tackle football to grades 4 - 6 this summer. The Bryan Youth Sports Association's debut event features a combine on Saturday, June 6, and a mini-camp June 8 - 11. Registration is $40.

Bomber Drive Becomes Midtown Park Boulevard

Bomber Drive is now Midtown Park Boulevard, creating a unified street identity for Travis Bryan Midtown Park. Midtown Park Boulevard now extends through the entire park, from W. Villa Maria Road to W. Carson Street. With numerous local, regional and national tournaments and events happening throughout the park each month, the change reduces confusion for visitors and emergency response.
