Message from the Head of School

Dear Goshen families,

Thanks to all for supporting and attending the Harvest Fair Saturday. The weather made a beautiful fall backdrop for one of the school's most cherished events. The day wouldn't be possible without the help of all the parents, teachers, and friends who donate time, creativity, treats, and more! Special thanks to Goshen Parent Community officers Dana Kelly, Marne Repetto, and Jacqui Martin, who organized a flawless event and inspired many families to lend a helping hand!

Irene Crichton, clerk of the school's General Committee, says it best in her message below:

Dear Friends,

Congratulations and a hearty thank you to all members of the GPC and school community for Saturday's fantastic Harvest Fair at Goshen Friends.  All the activities were carefully planned - not only  what they would be, but also  where they would be - and a colorful map given to each family when they arrived made it easy to select just the right place to get started. Perfect fall weather complemented the day! I saw many families leaving the Fair with hands full of painted pumpkins. Face-painted children carried spin-art and wore pumpkin necklaces filled with colorful sand and medals featuring a York peppermint patty on bright-colored ribbons earned at the obstacle course. And this represented only a few of the wonderful "stations" the children enjoyed. Two bounce houses and the always popular pony rides were also highlights.

Compliments for the delicious food, snacks, and drinks enjoyed by families both in the Grange and outside at picnic tables whose tablecloths reflected the autumn season.

Much thought had been given to the day, and it showed - before for set-up, during as parents and teachers took turns helping the children at the different stations, and after the event with a very efficient clean-up crew.  Thank you ALL for sharing your talents with both the school community and neighborhood friends. What a glorious event!

In friendship,

Irene Crichton
(on behalf of the General Committee)

Please mark your calendars for our Halloween parades coming up in just a couple of weeks! Owls, Bears, and both By My Side classes will parade Wednesday, October 30; Froggies, Ladybugs, Bumblebees, and Butterflies parade on Thursday, October 31. Events for both days will be held in the Grange parking lot and begin at 9:15 am.

More information will follow! Until then, and if at all possible, I encourage guests to car pool with other parents and with extended family members who plan to join in the festivities. Parking is always at premium for this popular event!

In friendship,

October Community Service Project

This month we're saying "THANKS" to the members of the Goshen Fire Company for everything they do for our school and our community by collecting snacks and drinks for their firehouses on Park Avenue and Boot Road. If you'd like to contribute to this SNACK DRIVE, please send in nonperishable individual-sized snacks and drinks that members of the fire company can enjoy when they have down time between calls: granola bars, energy bars, crackers, chips, cookies, pretzels, popcorn, Gatorade, and bottled water are just a few ideas. Feel free to choose your favorite snack!

Please send in donations via car line, or deliver directly to the Office, no later than tomorrow, OCTOBER 15.
The firefighters will be visiting Goshen Friends on October 16 and 17, and we will be presenting donations to them on those days. Thank you!
