Message from the Head of School

Dear Goshen friends and families,

Wow! It's the first word that comes to mind when I think about Saturday's Harvest Fair. Truly, it was a perfect day. The food, the obstacle course, the ponies, the crafts, the caricatures and face-painting, the giant tubs of corn that the kids couldn't get enough of....it was amazing! Even the weather held out!

No event at our school better exemplifies teamwork than the Harvest Fair. Thank you to all the parents, teachers, students and General Committee members who made it happen.

And because I know she is thanking the myriad people who helped out with our school's biggest event, I want to take a moment to thank GPC Clerk Jeanne Czubaroff. She is one of our school's greatest cheerleaders, supporters and doers. Thank you, Jeanne, for all that you do!

*********************************************************************************************

I wanted to take a moment to remember a Goshen legend. Tr. Laurajean Schiavello taught in our Preschool and Mommy and Me (now By My Side) for 40 years. It is with sadness I share that last Friday, Tr. Laurajean passed away.

We have missed Laurajean since she retired from Goshen at the end of 2013. Now, we miss her even more. I'll close with some thoughts shared by Tr. Carolyn Mackrides-who taught alongside her for many years-in a newsletter published by the school in 2014.

"Laurajean is an inspiration to me, Goshen Friends School and to our community. She is a true person full of wisdom, leadership, love and caring, not only for the children she teaches, but for everyone who knows her. I will miss her so very much, especially her beauty and smile."

You are forever in our hearts and minds, Tr. Laurajean!

In friendship,
Tr. Mimi

Dear Families,

The Harvest Fair was a great success. The meteorologists were correct and the rain diminished in time to set up for this great event. The day was simply wonderful and there were little smiles everywhere you looked.

Thank you to all the families and teachers who brought food and worked our activity tables. A large gratitude is owed to Teachers Patrice and Chris for sharing their artistic talents for three hours straight. Special thanks to Embreeville Mill, who donated 400 pounds of dried corn. Thanks to Dana Kelly, Erin Robins, and Marnie Repetto. These ladies coordinated our ponies, signs, shirt sales, and awesome obstacle course. Special thanks to Rob Irwin, Jacqueline Martin, and Liliana Escalona for all their help at setup and to Carly Nagle, Justin Czubaroff, and Teachers Delee and Patty for cleaning up and breaking everything down and helping get all our stuff back home.  We also thank Mimi and Michele for their endless support of this event and supplying the pizza and pumpkins!

This event appears seamless because of all of your support.

In an abundance of friendship,
Jeanne, GPC Clerk

Just a reminder, t he KidStuff coupon book sale  ended today. Please make payment of $25 or return your book. We appreciate your support!

Thursday night, October 18, i s our first Dine & Donate event! The event will be held  at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza in Exton  from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. This fundraiser  will return 20% to the school - eat in, take out, and adult beverages will be included in the total. Click here for an event flyer!

Please send in your Box Tops via your child's backpack no later than Friday, October 19!

We are still taking orders for Pretzel Madness on October 30 & 31. These make great treats for the little ghosts, princesses, policeman, and train conductors who will be visiting your doorsteps. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
