We are equally excited to team up again with the fabulous folks at This Is It Bar who not only hosts a tremendous after party at the bar following the gala, but this year providing all of the entertainment for this year’s gala. Details and information on sponsorships, tickets and other information for this fabulous annual fundraising gala can be found further down in this week’s WEEKLY!

I invite you to join me again this Sunday for worship at 11:00am, as we continue our series The Gospel According to Dr. Suess. We continue our series where many who have attempted to retell the story of the Gospels, giving their reenactment of how they think the Life of Jesus went. Sunday, we dive deeper into our Seuss-ology with “OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!”

A reminder that this Sunday we have Brunch with the Pastor at Centraal following worship. You’re invited to join us for some continued fellowship with one another.

I can’t tell you the level of appreciation that is given each month when the folks at Vivent come and pick up our pantry donations to help keep their pantries d Don’t forget that Pack the Pantry is the following Sunday, September 24th. Remember to bring your non-perishable items and place them in the shopping cart in the Narthex. Know that if you forget the fourth Sunday for Pack the Pantry that you can bring your items any Sunday and place them in the shopping cart.

As always, please take a moment to scroll down for the many other special announcements in the life of our congregation and community, as we continue to be the vibrant, inclusive, and progressive community of faith that we are.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday Morning!

In Christ,

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9-12

You, however, are a “chosen people, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a people set apart” to sing the praises of the One who called you out of the darkness into the wonderful, divine light. Once you were “not a people,” but now you are the people of God; once there was “no mercy for you,” but now you have found mercy. Dear friends, I urge you, as strangers and aliens in this world, to abstain from

sinful passions which attack the soul. Live such good lives among the Gentiles

that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

Join us for IN-PERSON WORSHIP

this Sunday 11:00am

as we CONTINUE our Sermon Series:

There have been many people over time who have attempted

to retell the story of Jesus in a variety of ways. Many have

tried to retell the story of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark,

Luke and John, giving their reenactment of how they think

the life of Jesus went. Join us in this series as we explore a different medium of retelling some of the stories of the

Gospel, as we engage in The Gospel according to Dr. Suess,

continuing with “OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!”

SheARTS Project

Art Hats for Breast Cancer Awareness

to Premier during Breast Cancer

Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of this awareness, Grace Lutheran Church in Thiensville, it excited to bring to the community the SheARTS Project: Art Hats for Breast Cancer Awareness. This compact exhibit contains amazing hats created by artists from around the country and photographs from professional photographer, Meg Luther Lindholm.

The 37 hat exhibit was curated by artist, Claudia M. Pratt, shortly after she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2006. Claudia had her head shaved as a result of her chemotherapy. At a retreat her head was painted in a variety of colors and shapes, as well as words of healing, love, and faith.

Once her head was shaved many talked with Claudia about their own issues and struggles with Breast Cancer. It started a dialogue that led to the creation of this exhibit. Claudia then put out a call to artists to come up with their own versions of head coverings. These became symbols of the struggle with cancer as well as the creative expression that can be found even in the face of this disease.

The exhibit will include a presentation on October 6th at 6:30pm. The exhibit will open officially at 7-9pm that evening. The exhibit will then be open October 7th and 8th from 10am to 4pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 303 Green Bay Rd. Thiensville.

This is a free exhibit, donations to your favorite cancer awareness organizations are encouraged. This exhibit is made possible by Grace Lutheran Church and the Paul and Marguerite Pratt Family Foundation.

Church Asset Protection “CAP”

2023 Capital Campaign

We are excited to be in the midst our Church Asset Protection campaign, CAP for short, our Capital Campaign fundraiser to help raise funds for repairs, on the church building.

Maybe you worship with us occasionally, or every Sunday. You may participate in or support one of the many programs we provide in the Milwaukee community.

For more than fifty years your support has allowed us to be one of the first LGBTQ+ organizations to own a building. We are proud that with so much support we can also report we own the property free of any mortgage or debt. With this great blessing comes the great responsibility of maintaining the building.

Over the last several years we have been able to replace the HVAC and all but three of the old wooden windows. The inside of the building has been refreshed and all repairs have been completed. Now we find ourselves with many needed repairs to the outside of the building.

Our Church Asset Protection campaign helps raise funds to complete necessary repairs to our building that provides us the foundation to provide these support services. The funds will be used to complete the following:

  • The two chimneys need to be removed. A new roof needs to be installed.
  • The flat roof in the back of the building is pulling away from the side of the building and needs to be repaired.
  • The gutters are original from when they were attached to the city storm sewers and needed to be replaced and the rotting wood behind them repaired.
  • The last three wooden windows need to be replaced.
  • Lastly, the attic insulation needs to be replaced.

So, how can you help?

  • Donate to the campaign
  • Donate your time to help complete the repairs.
  • Share the campaign with friends and family to help us achieve our goal more quickly.
  • Do all 3!

Whichever you choose, your support is meaningful and makes an impact! For your convenience you can make your donation online by clicking on:

2023 Capital Campaign

You can go to our Secure Online Giving Portal and/or our PayPal Giving Link for your regular offering or one time giving.
