News & Updates | April 2022
Dear Friend,

As we approach Holy Week, I invite you to consider the divine invitation to be listeners.

The Triduum, in particular, offers us an opportunity to slow down and consider God’s magnificent love. God listened to the cry of her people and “decided to work the redemption of the human race” (Sp.Ex. 107). That work is ours too, St. Ignatius reminds us.

Listening to the cry of the people is an essential part of our Christian vocation. As an Ignatian family, we have been invited to listen to the cries of our youth, the poor, and the earth. What are young people and those on the margins of society saying? What is our fragile and wounded earth telling us?

Let us ask for the grace to be attentive listeners during Holy Week, and let us pay attention to what we hear.

Have a blessed Holy Week.
Un abrazo,
Carlos Aedo

The Office of Ignatian Spirituality is committed to working toward racial justice. As a staff we continue to prayerfully discern our roles in both the perpetuation and the fight against racism. We invite everyone in our community to join us in praying for conversion of heart and in discerning how to take action. Each month we share what is informing prayer and conversation among our staff.
Consolation & Desolation

"Framing humanitarian crises in an 'us' and 'them' framework, as though the suffering of White people is closer to my experience and therefore more worthy of my empathy, makes that empathy painfully small. God’s love, by contrast, is big, expansive, radical, almost embarrassingly huge."
