On July 27th, Jeani Synyard reported on the status of the rector search process during the 10 a.m. service. Click the image above or this link to see this short video of her report: https://youtu.be/l-5lWB8SZ5k

Your Search Committee is in the process of conducting initial interviews of prospects. During this time of discernment and transition, please continue to pray for the Search Committee, our Christ Church family, our faithful and generous supply clergy, and whomever God is calling to be our next rector. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

HEP NOONERS (Happy Episcopal People) lunch gathering will be Friday, August 22 at Noon at Rev. Marcia and John McRae’s home, 2701 Green Meadow Drive (remember Jerry Jones is under construction). An anonymous donor has offered to have Publix cater the gathering with a variety of wraps, veggies and meats, with sides of slaw salad and chips. Marcia and John are providing desserts and drinks. Please RSVP John at 229-220-5619 by Noon on Wednesday August 20. Our next HEP NOONERS gathering will be held on October 24.

LUNCH BUNCH: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED on August 23 at 11a. The 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month Christ church members gather at 11a to make sack lunches for 100 inner city children in need of meals. It is an assembly line process that will only take about one hour of your time on Saturday to help. Please call John McRae at 229-220-5619 to sign up or just show up on the 2nd or 4th Saturday to start volunteering your time.

Episcopal 101 and All Things Christ Church Offering & Light Supper

Please join us on Wednesday evenings this summer as we continue our discussions about all things Episcopal and more specifically Christ Church. This is a terrific opportunity to learn more about Christ Church and The Episcopal Church… or at least a good refresher. Beginning at 5:30p each Wednesday evening between now and the end of August, a different topic will be discussed, with different folks presenting each week, followed by a light supper.

Aug 20:  The Episcopal Church Structure – Molly Stevenson

Aug 27:   Ministry Opportunities at Christ Church – Ministry Leaders

** Bishop Logue will be at Christ Church on August 31 for his Visitation. These “classes” will also serve as the formation for anyone wishing to be Confirmed, Received or Reaffirmed when he comes.

LUNCH WITH BISHOP LOGUE- Following the 10a service on August 31. In order to plan adequately, please sign up on the sheet provided on the bulletin board in the parish hall. Menu will include Fried Chicken, Mac n Cheese, Coleslaw, and Frozen Custard.

INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY OF THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH: My website Sisters in Faith (sisters-in-faith.org) commemorates forgotten Episcopal deaconesses, those who could not be ordained because they were women. After graduating from deaconess school, many became nurses, teachers, and church helpers in disadvantaged areas both abroad and in the United States. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact Deacon Patricia Marks (spmarks@bellsouth.net; 229-630-8644).

THE BISHOP OF WEST TEXAS SENT A THANK YOU to Christ Church members for our $1,126.00 contribution to the Disaster Relief Fund for families impacted by the floods in West Texas.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY: Held on Thursday’s from 10:15a -11:15a. On August 21 the study will be starting a new book called Sacred Fire, A Vision for A Deeper Human and Christian Maturity by Fr. Ronald Rolheiser. Anyone interested in joining can purchase the book and come or call Tammy Borders for more information at 229-560-5889.

Christian Education for Adults

Every Sunday at 9:15a Christian Education has a learning session about the Sunday readings from 9:15a until 9:45a. We are looking for more members to join and participate in these sessions.
