Search Committee Update

Your Search Committee continues its work. During this time of discernment and transition, please continue to pray for the Search Committee, our Christ Church family, our faithful and generous supply clergy, and whomever God is calling to be our next rector. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Ministries/Opportunities Fair – Sunday, September 7

Are you wondering where God may be calling you to participate more fully? Come see what Ministry opportunities are available at Christ Church at the Ministries Fair. Displays will be set up along with the opportunity to speak with participants in those ministries in the Parish Hall on Sunday, September 7. (Set up will take place Saturday afternoon, September 6)

Attention all Women! Are you interested in deepening your prayer life by being part of a community of women whose mission is to pray and serve? The Daughters of the King (DOK) is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church and those in communion with it. Nancy Lutsko will lead a class later this fall for anyone interested in joining. Be sure to put your name on the list at the DOK display at the Opportunities/Ministries Fair on Sunday, September 7!

It is time to update our Parish Directory. This is an invaluable tool for any new person in our church community…. especially a new rector. Please keep your eyes peeled in the Sunday bulletin and Friday Grapevine for announcements regarding signing up to have your photo taken.

New Foyer Groups being formed! Foyer groups are a terrific way to get to know members of the church in a smaller, more intimate setting. Generally made up of groups of 8-10 people who meet monthly, usually for a meal either at the home of someone in the group or at a restaurant. Please sign up at the Opportunities Fair next week, or call the church office to participate.

The 204th Diocesan Convention of the Diocese of Georgia will take place November 7-8, 2025 in Statesboro, GA. Christ Church can send 3 lay delegates along with clergy, entitled to seat, voice and vote. If you are interested in serving as a delegate, please see Senior Warden, Molly Stevenson. 

Sign up to provide Altar Flowers Altar flowers are a beautiful way to honor your loved ones. And not only do they adorn the altar, after Sunday’s services they are then taken to friends to brighten their day. 

ATTENTION ALL LADIES – Ladies Night Out! - Join us on Thursday, September 11 at 7PM @ Friends Restaurant for a time of fun and fellowship. This is a terrific opportunity to invite a friend and for you to get to know your church family a little better.

After graduating from deaconess school, many became nurses, teachers, and church helpers in disadvantaged areas both abroad and in the United States. Griefshare.org Griefshare is a free nondenominational Christian based 13 week program for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one. Crossroads Church is hosting this program starting August 18 from 10-12 am or August 19 from 6-8 pm. For more information or to register go to griefshare.org and put in location Valdosta or 31602. Or just show up at the meeting.
