Retriever Training
This year you might have heard the words “back!” and “over!” echoing in the early morning hours instead of the more familiar “pull!” It’s our club members who utilize the club grounds during non-core hours for dog training, and it’s become one of the club’s more popular outdoor activities. It is getting harder and harder to find property close to Houston to train and work sporting and hunting dogs, and the club’s ponds and fields provide a great alternative!

Always with an eye on safety, the dog trainers have been out in the hours before we open the club to shooters, both during the week and on weekends. If you’d like to take advantage of the opportunity, please contact Kevin by clicking here.

2020/2021 Winter Night League
Winter Night League Is Underway
Winter Night League runs from December 2nd to January 28th. League nights are Wednesday and Thursday evenings with the course opening at 6:00 pm and closing at 9:00 pm.

We are using the same format as last year. You are welcome to shoot both Wednesday and Thursday with your highest score being used for league scoring. Shooting is all European rotation, meaning you can start anytime you like provided you are finished by 9:00 pm. If during the league GHSC management feels that participation is too great to support the European rotation format, we will switch to a squad-ed format.

Scoring
After week three is complete, classes are assigned and remain the same for the duration of the league. You must shoot a minimum of six out of eight weeks to qualify for ranking and prizes. If you shoot all eight weeks, your lowest two scores will drop off. Your class is determined by a modified Lewis Class system using your two highest scores from the first three weeks. Scores will be emailed out starting after week three and will also be posted here on the Winter Night League webpage.
League Prizes
League prizes are awarded at the finals on January 28th and are based on a Lewis Class system. Prizes are presented to 1st and 2nd place in each class and there is also a Greater Ladies concurrent! (Only members are eligible to receive prizes.)

Fees
Member entry fees are $50.00 for 100 targets. Guest entry fees are $60.00 for 100 targets. (Guests are not eligible for league prizes, and standard guest rules apply.) Members are not required to shoot all weeks. If you would just like to get out and have some fun one or two times, please do! After shooting please feel welcome to stay at the club and enjoy Steak Night! Our staff will make sure the grill is hot and the sides are ready to go for everyone participating.
