A message from Chairwoman Eleni Bousis
Dear Friends of the Greek Diaspora and American Community, who love history, political and significant historical events. Please share with your constituents and friends.
I am excited to share something truly special with all of you, us and me who carry Greece not only in our memories, but deep in our hearts, mind and soul no matter where in the world we live.
On April 22, Greek communities across the United States will have a rare and powerful opportunity to come together for a nationwide, one-week-only cinematic event: the acclaimed historical film Kapodistrias (The Governor).
This powerful and historic movie is the 5th highest-grossing Greek film of all time. Do not miss the preview in United States theaters through Tanweer and Fathom Entertainment.
Directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Yannis Smaragdis, the film brings to life the extraordinary story of Ioannis Kapodistrias, Greece’s first Governor after the War of Independence.
Kapodistrias was a brilliant diplomat, visionary leader, and devoted patriot. Kapodistrias dedicated his life to the ideals of freedom, unity, and nation-building. He was praised for laying the foundations of the modern Greek state through his courage, integrity, and profound personal sacrifice.
More than a film, Kapodistrias (The Governor) is a moving journey into the heart of our shared history—the struggles, values, and ideals that shaped our nation. His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens has described the film as “a cardiogram of Greek history,” recognizing its deep emotional and cultural impact.
For Greeks across the diaspora, across the world and especially for our children and our younger generations—this is a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with our roots and rediscover a defining chapter of our history and heritage. It is a story that belongs to every Greeks heart, wherever we may live.
Tickets go on sale March 20, and the film will be shown for the week of April 22nd in theatres nationwide.
We would be deeply grateful for your support in helping make this a historic moment for Greeks across the world.
If Democracy, history and culture resonates with you, please consider sharing it with your community, parish, members, friends, and networks. Greeks and Americans who cherish and relinquish their freedom and rights across the country can gather together to experience this remarkable history of Kapodistrias.
By filling theatres across America, we can create a powerful moment of remembrance, pride, and unity.
Together as one force, we will unite in honoring the legacy of Ioannis Kapodistrias and celebrate the enduring spirit of freedom.
Together, let us unite our communities to remember our history, celebrate our identity, and inspire future generations.
With warmest regards,
Eleni Bousis
