HAPPY NEW YEAR

Epiphany Day - Theofania - Ta Fota
January 6th marks one of the most sacred celebrations in the Greek Orthodox tradition. It is a joyful day of light, renewal and blessing, commemorating the baptism of Jesus Christ.
Across Greek Communities world wide, Epiphany is honoured with the Blessing of the Waters. During this meaningful ceremony, the priest casts a cross into the sea or river, and courageous participants dive in to retrieve it. The one who returns the cross is believed to receive blessings for the year ahead.
