Nix the Nitrous - Take the Pledge!

Decommissioning centralized nitrous oxide systems is one of the most immediate and impactful ways to cut emissions in health care

Have you thought about decommissioning at your facility? Take the official pledge today!

Through the Nix The Nitrous Recognition Initiative, we’re recognizing facilities at any stage of the journey — even if you’re just getting started.

Participating facilities will be recognized on our website, social media, and newsletter as leaders in building a sustainable Canadian health system.

Commit to decarbonization and take the first step towards decommissioning your centralized nitrous oxide system.

This initiative is part of our Preparing Canada’s Health Care Buildings for Net-Zero project, made possible with investment from the Government of Canada’s Low Carbon Economy Implementation Readiness Fund.

CLIMATE & HEALTH

Brain Health and Planetary Health

Planetary Health Alliance

Brain health sits at the heart of Planetary Health, yet it’s often overlooked.

Our brains are uniquely sensitive to the environments we shape: air pollution, extreme heat, ecosystem degradation, and climate-related stressors all influence cognition, behaviour, and mental well-being across the lifespan.

At the same time, healthy brains enable learning, cooperation, creativity, and collective decision-making. These capacities are essential for responding to climate and health crises. Planetary Health solutions like cleaner air, greener cities, and access to nature are also brain-protective solutions.

Health Quality BC

It’s amazing what kind of impact one change can have. It can even help save our planet.
