Date: May 28, 2026

Time: 9:00AM PT/12:00PM ET

This workshop will discuss the benefits of data-informed net-zero health care and provide a tutorial on how to use a NEW net-zero data visualization tool.

Attendees will also join breakout rooms and participate in a co-design session for a net-zero health care dashboard.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of data informed net-zero health care
  • Apply the data visualization tool effectively
  • Identify important features for a net-zero health care dashboard

New Resource - Heat Health Solutions

As extreme heat events become more frequent, many health care facilities are struggling to manage rising indoor temperatures and humidity. While building retrofits such as improved insulation, new windows, and heat pumps can help, they can be costly and difficult to implement in aging facilities.

The Heat-Health project focuses on practical, low-carbon, and low-cost solutions that can be implemented in care settings today to support patients, residents, and health care workers. These solutions fall into three categories: passive building approaches, clinical activities, and policies and practices.

While not exhaustive, this list highlights effective and widely tested strategies identified through research and expert input.

World Accreditation Day 2026 | Innovating for Purpose: Accreditation’s Role in Sustainable Health Care

Date: June 11, 2026

Time: 8:00AM PT/11:00AM ET

Climate resiliency is now a health care quality and cost issue. The question is: how do you decide what to focus on, how do you prove it worked?

On World Accreditation Day 2026 learn how accreditation helps organisations make targeted choices, implement effectively, and measure clinical, operational, and environmental ROI. In one hour, hear from Canada’s top leaders in health care sustainability about choosing the right innovations and proving results while connecting with a global learning community committed to building stronger health systems for better patient outcomes.

You’ll also get a clear look at the forthcoming Climate Action Maturity Assessment (previously known as the Green Hospital Scorecard) as a concrete way to benchmark progress and share what works.

Webinar - Cut the Carbon: Beyond the OR

Date: June 12, 2026

Time: 9:00AM PT/12:00PM ET

Join the Coalition and PEACH Health Ontario for our next Cut the Carbon: Beyond the OR session where we will welcome Dr. Rebecca Douglass to discuss the climate impact of meter-does inhalers (MDIs) and how to switch patients to dry powder inhalers (DPIs) which have a much lower carbon burden.

CLIMATE & HEALTH

Climate Change and Cardiovascular Health: Advancing Resilient Action Beyond COP30

World Heart Federation

This recent article from the World Heart Federation highlights the growing impact of climate change and air pollution on cardiovascular health.

Climate hazards such as heatwaves, floods, wildfires, and poor air quality are increasing rates of cardiovascular disease, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The article emphasizes that climate action is also preventative health action, calling for cleaner energy, climate-resilient health systems, and stronger integration of cardiovascular health into national climate strategies through initiatives such as the Belém Health Action Plan.

CLIMATE ACTION

Evidence-Based Interventions To Decarbonize Care, Improve Climate Resilience

Health Affairs

In this article, authors identify policy interventions and other strategies that have the potential to accelerate the transition toward low-carbon, climate-smart health care systems. Drawing on academic literature and real-world implementation examples, they present a framework of strategies, highlighting the evidence in support of mechanisms such as green reimbursement models, integration of climate change into health professional education, and sustainable procurement standards.

Thinking Beyond the Patient: Planetary Health in Medical Education

KeyLIME+ Podcast

Geopolitics of Food Report

iPES Food

The New Geopolitics of Food, argues that global food systems are becoming increasingly fragile due to trade wars, conflicts, climate change, aid cuts, and corporate concentration. Many countries, especially import-dependent nations, are highly vulnerable to volatile global markets and disrupted supply chains.

Drawing on examples from India, West Africa, Canada, and Norway, the report highlights tools such as food reserves and market management to stabilize prices and protect food access. It calls for “resilient self-reliance” through stronger local food systems, agroecology, public infrastructure, and fair regional trade.
