State Face Mask Order Now Requires Written Documentation
On August 14, 2020 the Governor changed the face mask order to now require specific documentation when not using a face mask versus the prior honor system. Specifically, Executive Order 7NNN states the following: "Nothing in this order shall require the use of a mask or cloth face covering by anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to his or her health or safety because of a medical condition, a child in a child care setting, or anyone under the age of 2 years. Any person who declines to wear a mask or face covering because of a medical condition shall be exempt from this order and any requirement to wear masks in Sector Rules or other rules issued by the Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), but only if such person provides written documentation that the person is qualified for the exemption from a licensed medical provider, the Department of Developmental Services or other state agency that provides or supports services for people with emotional, intellectual or physical disabilities, or a person authorized by any such agency. Such documentation need not name or describe the condition that qualifies the person for the exemption."

Please continue to wear face coverings during all in-person showing activities, and enforce this rule for those around you. For more information, please refer to the GAR/GMLS guidance on resuming in-person showings, as well as CTR's updated guidance related to Face Masks and Coverings

Ban on Evictions Extended
Governor Lamont issued an Executive Order extending the ban on residential evictions through October 1, 2020 with the rationale to give more time for the federal government to provide assistance for renters and homeowners. It also extends the provision that allows the use of up to one month's security deposit as a rental payment when more than one month was provided; and doubled funding for the state's rental assistance program to 20 million dollars.

NAR REALTORs@ Relief Foundation - Hurricane Laura
The foundation’s mission speaks directly to the work we do as REALTORS®. It helps disaster victims with temporary housing assistance in the weeks and months following a disaster. While Hurricane Laura last week spared major cities, it crossed the path of 600,000 homes; some Gulf Coast residents are enduring extended power outages; others have experienced total destruction. Even a small donation to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation can help bring shelter, and hope, to displaced families and individuals. For more information and to donate, please click here.
