Saskatchewan Soccer is seeking Director candidates to be nominated.
The Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) acknowledges the work of SSA takes place on the lands covered by Treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 10, the traditional lands of the Cree, Dakota, Dene, Lakota, Nakota, and Saulteaux peoples as well as the homeland of the Metis and is committed to having a board of directors (Board) that is comprised of talented and dedicated directors with diverse lived experiences.
As an inclusive and equitable Board, the Board welcomes people from all parts of Saskatchewan, inclusive of First Nation and Metis peoples, people of all abilities, professional expertise, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, and age.
The Nominations Committee has determined that the current SSA Board is diverse and skilled, but as a priority, it seeks to recruit individuals with experience in sporting/recreational development and legal expertise.
Other areas of focus include:
- Non-profit sport governance,
- Corporate partnerships,
- Government relations, and
- Directors of publicly traded companies
Nominations can be made until December 15, 2025.

Thank you to the Lloydminster & District Soccer Association, St Walburg Youth Soccer , and Wilton Soccer Club for hosting us earlier in November for an afternoon session on walking soccer, futsal and a conversation around All Abilities soccer and equipment.
We truly appreciated your warm hospitality. It was valuable to connect in person, spend the day hearing your perspectives, and share ideas that strengthen our soccer community.

Our November Technical Session brought together an inspiring group of coaches and soccer leaders to reflect on the Saskatchewan Soccer Ecosystem. Conversations focused on understanding the WHY before the WHAT, exploring the purpose behind our organizations, game culture, and the decisions we make. Participants also engaged in EXCEL training.
What truly stood out was the power of connection. Sharing insights, challenging ideas, and learning from one another reminded us that our strength lies in collaboration and living the values we believe in.
This session reinforced that when we CONNECT, share, and collaborate, we create a stronger, more vibrant soccer community. We are excited to take these insights forward, turning conversation into action across our ecosystem.

It was great to have Paul Thompson from the Vancouver Whitecaps share insights from their environment on long-term planning and player development. While the group was smaller than anticipated, the session provided great value to both the attending coaches and the players who took part in the on-field activities.
A special thank-you to the U15 Boys Alliance team and their coaches for providing the players — their positive attitude and engagement throughout the session left a strong impression

The EXCEL female program transitioned from October boot camp sessions in the early mornings to their regular schedule which now includes futsal training and games. The girls are busy! The program now starts the Alliance Academy league and are playing in the SFL Futsal league with double competitions on Sunday.
Prairie Series Showcase (Nov 9–11)
The SASK EXCEL Program recently hosted the Prairie Series Showcase from November 9–11, featuring SASK EXCEL, MB EXCEL, BTB 2010, BTB 2009. It was a highly competitive environment with strong performances across all teams.
Our program continued to meet their objectives throughout the event. The girls came out flying against BTB 2010’s with a strong 2-0 win, they had a close and very competitive game against the BTB 2009 side but ultimately fell to a 2-1 defeat against a very hot goalkeeper. The girls stood their own vs a very aggressive MB EXCEL group but after going in the second half tied 1-1, had 2 unanswered goals to win the game 3-1.
The following SASK EXCEL athletes were recognized for standout performances:
- Starting XI of the Tournament: Emily Pegg, Audrey McQueen and Elizabeth Hanson.
- Goal of the Tournament for the EXCEL Program: Audrey McQueen
- 2nd & 3rd Best Goals: Elly Mitchell and Navy Louma
Player Highlight: We are very excited to send Elizabeth Hanson to the 2025 Whitecaps FC Academy Centre Evaluation Camp being held in Vancouver from November 24 to November 28, 2025. Paul Thompson, Academy Talent Identification Manager with the Vancouver Whitecaps is looking forward to seeing her at the camp.
Player Evaluations and Assessments: Identified players will be invited to participate in an online program presentation toward the end of November. Athletes will be scheduled for assessment sessions starting in January.

The SASK EXCEL Program recently hosted the Prairie Series Showcase from November 9–11, featuring SASK EXCEL, MB EXCEL, HUSA, and ASTRA. It was a highly competitive environment with strong performances across all teams.
Our program continued to show growth throughout the event. After a tough opening match against HUSA (4–0), the group responded exceptionally well—defeating ASTRA 4–2 and closing the weekend with a 2–0 win over MB EXCEL. These results reflect the consistent work the players have put in on the field and in the gym.
A number of SASK EXCEL athletes were recognized for standout performances:
- Starting XI of the Tournament: Cavan Fernandes, Bayo Balogun, Duc Pham, Lane Smith, Maximo Alvarado
- Goal of the Tournament: Torsten Reinkens
- 2nd & 3rd Best Goals: Coen LaClare (2nd), Maximo Alvarado (3rd)
Vancouver Whitecaps Talent ID Visit
We were fortunate to welcome Paul Thompson, Academy Talent Identification Manager with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Paul attended all matches on November 9th and 10th and provided valuable insight throughout his visit. He spoke highly of the overall level—players, coaches, and referees alike.
Player Highlight: Duc Pham
We are excited to share that Duc Pham will attend the Vancouver Academy Centre Evaluation Camp from November 17–21. This is a significant opportunity, and we are proud of the work Duc has put in to earn this invitation.

Thank you to those who attended the Aboriginal Coaching Module November 9th in Saskatoon.
First established in 2003, the ACM was developed by the Aboriginal Sport Circle to address the lack of a national training curriculum that reflects Indigenous values, culture and lifestyle. The program makes coaching through an Indigenous lens an accessible skill to help deconstruct barriers within sport.
The ACM program provides the tools to help coaches connect with Indigenous athletes and create a more supportive environment.
Understanding the barriers that may play a role in an athlete’s life is an important factor when considering an individual’s performance, interest and attitude day-to-day. Unfortunately, this may not always be top of mind for every coach.
That is when ACM training comes in. It provides coaches with the understanding they may not initially have.
The ACM is taking steps toward achieving a coaching community that understands the importance of being open and accessible to all athletes and their diverse needs.
