GridWise Alliance Congratulates GRIP Funding Awardees

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced the first round of awardees for funding from the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program (GRIP). Fifty-eight projects will split up to $3.5 billion to strengthen grid resilience and reliability across forty-four states, nine of which are projects administered by GridWise Alliance member companies as primary awardees. Topic: Distribution Grid Investments to Support Implementation of FERC Order No. 2222

Summary: In 2020, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued Order No. 2222 to remove barriers limiting the participation of aggregated distributed energy resources (DERs) in wholesale energy markets. During this webinar, panelists with deep experience in bulk power systems and grid innovation will discuss the technologies that must be deployed on the distribution grid to fully implement the goals of FERC Order 2222 and allow all consumers to participate in this emerging market.

Karen Wayland was recently featured in an article from Utility Dive on the challenges electricity stakeholders are facing as they work to connect DERs to the wholesale market amidst the backdrop of FERC Order 2222 implementation.
