Last Day of School

Thursday, May 25th
Report Cards will come home with students on this day. 
Laptop Collection

Monday, May 22 - 4th and 7th grade
All other grades should have turned in laptops last week. 

Students should have their laptop, charger and laptop case to turn in on the day of their laptop collection. Students will be charged for any missing items. Any files students would like to save should be removed from the device before collection. $23 for case and $30 for charger
Crossing Guard Gifts

Joleen Mitchell is collecting gift items to give to our wonderful crossing guards, 
Holli Hammond (elementary side) and Kim Dean (middle school side).

She is putting together a THANK YOU basket with Gift cards, summer items, handwritten thank you notes from your kids, anything would be appreciated! Items can be sent to the Welcome Center with Joleen Mitchell's on it. She will present them with the baskets next Wednesday.

Lower Grade Award Ceremonies will be held

Upper Grade Award Ceremonies will be held
Wednesday, May 24th
5th grade @ 8:30
6th grade @ 9:30
7th grade @ 11:00

8th grade Awards/Picnic will be held on Thursday, May 25th 
The 8th grade ceremony will begin at 9:30 with the 8th grade picnic following directly afterwards
Lost and Found

Please check the lost and found for any missing items. Any items left in the lost and found will be bagged and donated on Thursday afternoon. 
Box Top Pie and Water Balloon Throw

Wednesday, May 24th at 1:00

Students must have collected 150 + Box Tops to do the Pie Throw and 300 + Box Tops to do the water balloons

8th Grade Cookout

Thursday, May 25th at 11:00

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to assist throughout the day!

Mrs. Graham's classes will be bringing in items for the cookout. 
 
First period English Class- chips
Second period English Class- drinks
Third period English Class- drinks
Fifth period English Class- hot dog & hamburger buns
Seventh period English Class- dessert items

There will be an inflatable water slide for the kids to use the whole day. They must have APPROPRIATE clothing; boys knee length swim trunks or shorts and a non-white t-shirt and girls swim suit UNDER a non-white t-shirt & shorts. They may wear their PE clothes if they wish. Students WILL NOT be allowed to be outside shirtless or or without shirt/shorts over swim wear.

We need parents to donate 4-5 pop-up tents for shade if possible. Email us at  sbflinn@gmail.com or  varmette@comcast.net if you can bring one!

Students can also bring in sports equipment to use outside such as soccer balls, basket balls, footballs, Frisbees, etc. 

Students should be bring sunscreen, towel, and a 2nd set of dry clothes to change into if they have to be somewhere after school.

So far we have received donations from several parents and will be paying for the water slide and the meat from these donations. If you still haven't donated and would like to, you can send the money via paypal to sbflinn@gmail.com or give it to either Stacy Varmette or Stacie Moore Flinn directly.
PTA Reflections Program

The PTA Reflections arts program has announced the theme for our next school year: Within Reach. Many students are thinking about their upcoming participation already.
This competition is open to ALL students from Preschool-12th grade. 
**Attention rising Grissom Freshman**
Grissom High School fully supports student participation in the Reflections program. If you are a rising Freshman who will be entering Grissom High, we encourage you to prepare an entry in any of the great arts categories.

2017 Summer Reading Program

Huntsville City Schools is very pleased to share information regarding Summer Reading 2017, a district-wide effort to encourage reading for enjoyment. Reading during the summer months is an important opportunity for students to stay engaged and develop a life-long commitment to reading and learning.

Publix Partners

Please ask the cashier to scan your card every time you shop your local Publix. For every $37,500 spent cumulatively by our school's participants, Publix will award our PTA $250. You may check the board at customer service for our quarterly cumulative total.

If you do not have a Publix Partners card, stop by the Welcome Center to pick one up.
