FIRST FRIDAY EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Our First Friday Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is taking place today, Friday, March 1st, until Benediction at the conclusion of Stations (Stations begin at 6 p.m.) in the Church. Please stop by as your schedule permits and spend some quiet time in adoration of the Lord.

I COME TO ADORATION/EXPOSITION BECAUSE...

"To be closer to God and Jesus and talk to them - Say 'I'm sorry' and thank them for my life!" - L.C.

"Jesus is my all and all and I love Him. He has done so much for me. The least I can do for Him is to adore Him for an hour. He deserves so much more. I could not live in the crazy world without Him. I love you Jesus! I love the quiet, peaceful time in Adoration." - P.Y.

MASS INTENTIONS

OLOL is blessed with an abundance of Mass intentions. Due to the high demand and the growth of our parish, effective immediately, we are implementing new rules that limit intentions. Each family registered to OLOL will be permitted three (3) Mass Intentions per year. Also, only one (1) Mass per month may be said for a single person. Stipend for each Mass is $10.00 and should be paid at time of request.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to accommodate everyone's intentions. As always, please contact the office with questions.

LENT

PLENARY INDULGENCES DURING LENT

Every Lent to draw us ever closer to the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, the Church offers plenary indulgences (the removal of temporal punishment for sins already forgiven) to the faithful who perform the necessary conditions and specific acts of piety. All plenary indulgences require the following conditions:

1) Specific acts of piety

2) Sacramental Confession (20 days before or after the specific work, and one Sacramental Confession can be applied to multiple indulgences)

3) Holy Communion on the day of the specific act of piety

4) Pray for the intentions of Pope Francis with an Our Father and Hail Mary

5) Detachment from all sin

Three acts of piety which can be made throughout the Lenten Season include:

1) Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for at least thirty minutes (which can be fulfilled at our parish on March 1st or at another parish participating in the 40 Days of Adoration throughout the Diocese of Columbus)

2) Devoutly participating in Stations of the Cross (offered at our parish every Friday in Lent at 6:00 p.m.)

3) Reciting the Rosary in community or with family

During the Sacred Triduum, plenary indulgences are extended to those who attend Mass on those days. The acts of piety on those days are:

1) Sing the Tantum Ergo during the Transfer of the Blessed Sacrament at the conclusion of Holy Thursday Mass

2) Venerate the Holy Cross during the Good Friday Service

3) Renew your baptismal promises during the Easter Vigil Mass

On Easter Sunday, you can receive one additional plenary indulgence by watching or listening to Pope Francis’ Urbi et Orbi on the radio, TV, or social media. This Papal Blessing is offered by the Holy Father on Christmas and Easter each year, and it is extended firstly to the faithful present in the city of Rome (urbi) and additionally to the entire world (orbi). This blessing will be offered live in Vatican City at St. Peter’s Basilica at 6:00 a.m. on Easter Sunday, March 31st. May these and all our pious acts of faith, hope, charity, and love this Lent draw us ever closer to Christ.

PENANCE SERVICE

The Lenten Penance Service will be held on Thursday, March 14th at 7:00 p.m. Guest priests plus Fr. Kavanagh will be available for you to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “each of the faithful is bound by an obligation faithfully to confess serious sins at least once a year.” Please plan to attend so that you may receive this important sacrament.
