Lights of Esperanza 


Texas A&M University-San Antonio will host its annual Lights of Esperanza celebration (open to the community):


  • November 29, 2022
  • 6 - 8 p.m. 



A&M-San Antonio’s holiday light display contains more than 30,000 lights that light up the campus and create a festive atmosphere. Food trucks, inflatable snow games, a movie showing for The Polar Express, photo opportunities and a light show will be available in the CAB Courtyard.

  • Schedule an appointment with your advisor by calling (210) 784-1307 or using the Inspire link in JagWire (choose Login with Net ID). Your advisor can help you select the right classes and make a plan for graduation. We offer phone, virtual (Zoom/Webex) and in-person appointments.
  • Have a quick question about a date, deadline, or process? Try the live chat on our website.
  • Do you need an override to register for a class? Sometimes transfer credits aren’t correctly interpreted by the registration system and you need an advisor’s help to register. The override request form on our website is often the fastest way to get this resolved.
University Highlights

University Awarded Grant from Greater Texas Foundation


Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-San Antonio) has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1.4 million from the Greater Texas Foundation (GTF). The grant aims to help increase the number of Texas early college high school (ECHS) graduates who successfully transition to a four-year institution of higher education and complete a baccalaureate degree.The funds will support the Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) Scholars Program at A&M-San Antonio, which received its first award of $1.4 million from GTF in 2017. Transgender Day of Remembrance

Rainbow P.A.W.S and the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement held the 4th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil on campus. The Jaguar community came together in support and remembrance of all the lives lost this year. Attendees also paid respects to the victims of the mass shooting in Colorado Springs at the LGBTQ+ nightclub.

Davida Smyth Awarded Four-Year College & University Section Biology Teaching Award 


Davida Smyth, Associate Professor of Biology at Texas A&M University-San Antonio received award, sponsored by NABT’s Four-Year College & University Section, recognizes creativity and innovation in undergraduate biology teaching. These innovations may include, but are not limited to, curriculum design, teaching strategies, and laboratory utilization; they must have been implemented and demonstrated to be effective. Additionally, award winners presented their work during the Undergraduate Faculty Professional Development Summit at the NABT Conference.

University President Accepts New Position


Dr. Matson, who has served as the president of A&M-San Antonio since 2015, is the second president of the University. Under her leadership, the institution accomplished its downward expansion from an upper division to a comprehensive master’s university in 2016, bolstering enrollment from just over 4,500 in 2015 to more than 7,200 students today. During her tenure, Dr. Matson has led a variety of strategic initiatives and partnerships to improve and enhance student learning and degree attainment and to advance the University. She will conclude her tenure at A&M-San Antonio and begin her new role in January. An interim president will be appointed to lead the University until such time as a permanent president is identified. Read more.

Dennis Elam, Associate Professor received grant, named after him. 


The Socionomics Foundation Board approved a motion to start a grant program that will support professors in their efforts to speak at conferences and to pursue other engagements for the purpose of sharing socionomic research with academics and other professionals. The Board voted to make Dennis Elam the inaugural recipient of the grant program and authorized a $4,000 grant. The grant program will be named in his honor: Elam Grants.

Elam Grant recipients will make a significant impact on the history of socionomics in forthcoming years by conducting and sharing important research that will inform society’s understanding of how social mood influences the tenor and character of social trends.

'We just want to be' | Local group holds Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremony after Colorado Springs shooting


SAN ANTONIO — A memorial was held Monday November 21, at Texas A&M University San Antonio's campus. It hosted the Transgender Day of Remembrance. 

The group also paid respects to the victims in the mass shooting in Colorado Springs that happened at the LGBTQ+ nightclub. Five people were killed and more than dozen others were hurt. Eli McCullen is a Financial Education Coordinator at the University and organized the event. "There is so much heaviness weighing on me today," they said. McCullen reacted to the news out of Colorado Springs, but also talked about the importance of the event, in its fourth year. "We are here to mourn the losses of 34 trans people and non-binary people who were lost in violence this year," they said. Read more.
