Summer P.A.I.D.
Summer P.A.I.D. (Pay Assistance for Internship Discovery) is a program to support students who are interested in pursuing an experience in a field that typically does not offer pay or is underpaid. For summer 2022, students can be awarded amounts based on these needs, up to $20/hour. The priority deadline is Friday, May 27. Click here for application details. The Great Migration …
We Need Your Help!
Administrators, faculty, and staff, the website redesign project team is working with campus stakeholders to successfully migrate content on our present web pages to the new design. The project team is targeting a July 1, 2022 completion date for this migration work. The time is approaching quickly and to ensure a successful transition from the current design to our new site, the project team needs your help.
If you do not have someone from your area who is trained to use Cascade to update web pages, or if you would like to receive training, please talk to your manager about attending one of the Cascade Training Sessions offered by ITS. Beginning May 18, the ITS web team will offer a new Cascade Training agenda to consolidate the Basic and New Template Trainings into a single session. The trainings will continue to be offered weekly, every Wednesday from 10–11:30 a.m. and can be scheduled by submitting a helpdesk ticket or em ailing web.master@tamusa.edu.

Texas A&M-SA Networking Event
Professor Cate Wengelnik, Department of Management and Marketing, and her students have created a networking and leadership meeting platform that allows for current and former TAMUSA students to engage, network, and transfer knowledge. Every semester Professor Wengelnik and her students come together to engage and create this amazing opportunity for our community. The invitation is open for all current and former students to join and enhance their network skills in a supportive and welcoming environment. The next event will be in Fall 2022. Dr. Gary Coulton, Associate Professor of Psychology, serves as the Faculty Ombudsperson at Texas A&M-San Antonio. The Faculty Ombudsperson is a designated neutral faculty member chosen by the Faculty Senate who works with faculty at A&M-SA to explore and assist them in determining options to help resolve conflicts, problematic issues or concerns related to their employment at A&M-SA and to bring systemic concerns to the attention of A&M-SA for resolution. Alumnus to Appear on ABC’s Shark Tank
Tony Adeniran ’10 will appear on ABC’s popular show, Shark Tank, for Season 13’s Finale this Friday, May 20 at 7pm CST/8pm EST. Shark Tank is a reality show where budding entrepreneurs get the chance to bring their dreams to fruition. Adeniran, who earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from A&M-SA, is an entrepreneur, professional boxer, and Certified USA Boxing coach. He owns Black Stallion Boxing and is the creator of the Aqua Boxing Glove.

Softball Shines in 2022 Season
Texas A&M University–San Antonio’s softball team enjoyed a memorable 2022 season that saw the Jaguars set many program firsts. The Jaguars (23-30) more than doubled their previous season’s win total in year two as they qualified for the Red River Athletic Conference in the first year they were eligible. The Jaguars placed three players on the All-RRAC teams, while a player was named to the All-RRAC Tournament team at the conclusion of the postseason event. Read more.

A&M-San Antonio Celebrates Frost Gift with Check Presentation
On May 2, the Texas A&M University-San Antonio community gathered to celebrate a $100,000 gift from Frost Bank to support A&M-San Antonio Athletics. An official check presentation was held in the Auditorium to recognize the gift, which will go toward the “Building Champions” capital campaign to support a recreation center on campus. Read more.

A&M-San Antonio Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Title IX
Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-San Antonio) Division of Athletics and Women @ Work celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Title IX with a panel discussion on May 2. The theme of the event was “Celebrating Women in Athletics” and featured panelists Dr. Lisa Campos, vice president for intercollegiate athletics at The University of Texas at San Antonio; Jenny Carnes, senior vice president and chief operating officer at San Antonio Sports; and Nicole DuFour, softball head coach for A&M-San Antonio. Christi Cano, men’s golf head coach at A&M-San Antonio, served as moderator. Read more.

Award Honors a Passion to Change Lives
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, president of A&M-San Antonio, presented the 2022 Piper Professor award to Dr. Wise de Valdez during a ceremony held May 5 on campus. In attendance to celebrate the momentous occasion was Dr. Debra Feakes, dean for the College of the Arts and Sciences, who was named a 2016 Piper Professor while at Texas State University. Dr. Wise de Valdez is one of only 10 professors awarded the distinction in the State of Texas and the first A&M-San Antonio professor to receive the distinction while at the University. Read more.

2021 Distinguished Faculty Award
On May 13, the 2021 Distinguished Faculty Award recipients were announced. The Distinguished Faculty Awards include Awards for Distinguished Scholarly, Research or Artistic Achievement; an Award for Distinguished Service; and an Award for Distinguished Teaching. These distinctions recognize faculty for exemplary performance and dedicated service to the University and our mission to transform lives and our community by providing a quality higher education experience.
Award for Distinguished Scholarly, Research or Artistic Achievement
Intended to recognize outstanding work by two faculty at different stages of academia, “Rising Scholar” for those on tenure track and “Scholar” for those tenured, the Award for Distinguished Scholarly, Research or Artistic Achievement recipients are:

National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) Experiential Education Program Award
Jenny Moore, clinical professor of communication, received the 2022 National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) Experiential Education Program award. The award recognizes an outstanding K-12 or higher education institution that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to experiential education in their classrooms or on their campuses.
NSEE recognized Moore for developing an experiential learning program at Univision-41 KWEX in San Antonio. The program contributes to the field of experiential education by presenting an innovative training ground in broadcast education. The award will be presented during the NSEE Conference held in Salt Lake City, Utah, in September.
