New Perspectives: Mental Health in Texas Webinar
Dr. Bill Bush, professor of history and chair of the Department of Communication, History, and Philosophy, will be a featured speaker on a webinar panel entitled, New Perspectives: Mental Health in Texas. The event is sponsored by the Bullock Texas State History Museum on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. Dr. Bush will draw from his book, Circuit Riders for Mental Health: The Hogg Foundation in Twentieth-Century Texas, which was published by Texas A&M University Press in 2016. Dr. Bush will join Dr. Octavio Martinez, professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin and executive director of the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health. This program will introduce the work of the foundation, the evolution of mental health care needs and services in Texas over the years, and inform guests about pressing issues in the state today.

Safe Space Training Workshop
Rainbow P.A.W.S. (Pride at Work and School) is hosting a Safe Space training workshop for Pride month! The workshop is two hours long and features a Q&A . Safe Space workshops prepare members of the University community to support and advocate for those who identify as LGBTQ+. Safe Spaces are people, not places. Through this training, you will become a Safe Space for our LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty. Once the workshop has been completed, you will receive a Safe Space sticker, which you can display to signal your status as an advocate.

A&M-SA Announces Associate Vice President and Executive Director for Mays Center
Texas A&M University–San Antonio officially announced Dr. Adriana Contreras as the new associate vice president and executive director of the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement. Contreras will oversee the center, which provides enhanced learning opportunities and access to resources and community relationships to develop students into career-ready and community-minded graduates.
