HOLT and University Announce $200K Investment in Education
HOLT has committed $200K in academic scholarships to Texas A&M University-San Antonio over the next four years. A total of five recipients will receive $10,000 per year. Applications will open fall 2023 and will primarily target first-generation college students from East Central ISD. Read more.

Mental Health Ally Training Highlights
Thank you to the 65 members of the Texas A&M University - San Antonio community (faculty, staff, and students) who participated in the Student Counseling Center’s (SCC) rebranded “Mental Health Ally” training on Thursday, March 23rd. All attendees were successfully trained in suicide prevention and received a “Break the Stigma” t-shirt, button, sticker, and certificate for their participation. We now have 65 individuals trained as Mental Health Allies on campus! Please look forward to future events and we hope to hear from you on how we can continue to create a supportive campus for all.

Join us for the annual Festival de Cascarones, the official finale to Fiesta San Antonio, on Sunday, April 30, 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., on the Texas A&M University-San Antonio campus! Free admission and open to the public, this event will feature live music, food, games and fun for the whole family - all day long! There will be a Kid's Zone for the young ones. The event is pet-friendly (dogs must be leashed).

You, your colleagues, friends and family are invited to volunteer for Festival de Cascarones!
- Receive access to a volunteer parking area, an official Festival de Cascarones t-shirt, and free food during your volunteer shift.
It is a wonderful way for you to meet other people from across campus and support your community. Volunteers 12 and older can participate. All volunteers must be available to attend a mandatory volunteer orientation meeting. You only need to attend one of the following meetings:

Order Your Fiesta Medals Now!
Fiesta season is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than for your department to have the official University Fiesta medal!
Please note a minimum order of 25 medals is required. Each medal costs $3.10, and you MUST provide your department's account number on the order form. For this reason, it is better if a representative or department head makes the order on behalf of the department.
It is recommended that you make divisional orders or be part of a divisional order if your department number is small.

Transformational Leadership Academy Application Open
The Transformational Leadership Academy (TLA) is a free five-night summer residential experience for 25 current high school sophomores and juniors. Students will have a chance to sit in on leadership and entrepreneurship classes where they will study real-life scenarios and business practices.
Overall, the program will provide students and their families with exposure to a collegiate environment and increase their college knowledge as they prepare to begin their college application process.

Mariachi Los Jaguares del Sur Receives Standing Ovation After First Concert
De La O said the band prides itself on its ability to bring the community together through a shared love for music, performance and Mexican culture. After De La O’s statements, the band played its first set of seven songs, followed by a presentation of a mini documentary about the mariachi group — produced by A&M-San Antonio’s Enlace Media Lab — and a brief intermission. After the intermission, the band performed a second set and finished with the song, “Cielito Lindo.” Upon the song’s final note, the crowd erupted into applause and whistles and rose to give the mariachi a standing ovation. CAST Launches Teacher Attraction and Retention Programming with A&M-SA
The Firstmark Foundation has awarded CAST Schools a grant of $40,000 that will be used to further develop teacher attraction and retention programming and materials to promote an innovative teacher residency program with Texas A&M University-San Antonio. This is the second grant Firstmark Foundation has awarded CAST Schools since the foundation was established in 2021. New teachers and their mentors will be on hand to celebrate the program’s launch in an evening celebration in their honor on April 4. Read more.

Festival de Cascarones: Join us for the annual Festival de Cascarones, the official finale of Fiesta San Antonio!
