The Jaguar Registration Day event is coming up on Thursday, July 28 from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. in the SciTech Building. This is your time to get ready for the first day of the fall semester by completing all your missing items.
At Jaguar Registration Day, you'll get the opportunity to complete major checklist items to ensure you are ready to go, such as:
- Complete Orientation
- Get Advised & Register for Classes
- Meet with a Financial Aid Rep
- and more!

Led by the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement, this spring Texas A&M University-San Antonio received a one-time $55,200 Work-Based Learning Opportunity Grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Funded by the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Funding, this grant and others will help Texas college students access internship and apprenticeship opportunities to strengthen the education to workforce pipeline, drive student opportunity, and advance the state’s economic competitiveness; a previous press release can be found here. The grant funds launched the Summer PAID (Pay Assistance for Internship Discovery) program was created through the Mays Center. From a large and competitive pool of applicants, 19 undergraduate students were accepted for the program and will be receiving pay for their otherwise unpaid or underpaid internships this summer. The Writing Center has updated its name to the Writing, Language, and Digital Composing Center. Summer hours are as follows:
· Monday: 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
· Tuesday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
· Wednesday: 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
· Thursday: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
· Friday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

A&M-SA Unveils Second Largest Gift in University History
On July 6, Texas A&M University-San Antonio celebrated a gift from the Hector and Gloria López Foundation with an official unveiling. The López Foundation presented a check for $2.1 million to the Texas A&M-San Antonio Foundation to benefit 15 Latino students who will be known as López Scholars. The gift marks the second largest in A&M-SA history.
The special event featured speakers Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, president
of A&M-SA; Dr. Jesse Pisors, A&M-SA vice president of university relations and advancement; Sergio Rodriguez, López Foundation chief executive officer; Elaine Mendoza, Texas A&M System Board of Regents; and Dr. Sandi Wolff, Texas A&M-San Antonio Foundation. Students Yirha Navarette, a sophomore biology major, and Marcus Garcia, a junior computer information systems major, shared about their families and their journey as students. Also in attendance were members of the López Foundation and Dr. James Hallmark, Texas A&M University System vice chancellor for academic affairs.
The grant will fund remaining tuition and fees, after Federal Pell Grants and all other financial support for which the López Scholar is eligible, as well as wraparound support services, including mentoring, tutoring, paid internships, leadership development and much more, up to five years ( press release). Christi Cano Named to A&M-SA Athletics Women's Leadership Role
Texas A&M University–San Antonio has named Christi Cano, the University's men's golf coach, as its Senior Woman Leader for the Athletics Department. Among the duties outlined for a program's Senior Woman Leader is to provide leadership and guidance pertaining to Title IX and gender equity, assist the athletics director with strategic planning, and participate in budget development and major financial decisions. Dr. Briscoe Selected to TSHA Board
Dr. Dolph Briscoe IV, lecturer of History at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA), the oldest learned society in the state.

A&M-SA Students, Staff and Faculty Participate in Pride "Bigger Than Texas" Parade
Texas A&M-San Antonio students, staff and faculty participated in San Antonio's Pride "Bigger Than Texas" Parade on June 25. There were more than 30 attendees who joined the A&M-SA group to march in the parade and gave out lanyards to parade attendees.
