Building a Thriving Biology Program


Joining the University in 2010, Dr. Megan Wise de Valdez transformed the fledgling Biology Department—which consisted of four microscopes stored in a coat closet—into a robust program within the Department of Natural Sciences that offers B.A. and B.S. degrees and hosts two graduate programs.  Shaping A&M-San Antonio's History


Dr. Bill Bush started at the University in 2008, becoming the first tenured track professor hired in the History Department. Over the years he's worn many hats, including serving as the chair of multiple departments. More recently, he was named director of the University's new Honors Program.

ASPIRE Summer Camps


The University's Challenge to ASPIRE Summer Camp offers elementary and middle school students at any of the seven ASPIRE districts the opportunity to attend free on-campus summer camps. Students can explore a range of fun activities and challenges based on science, technology, engineering, art mathematics, and sports, all supervised by University faculty and community partners. Chancellor Sharp to Retire


Chancellor John Sharp, the longest-serving chancellor in the history of the Texas A&M University System, has announced that he is retiring on June 30, 2025. Under Sharp’s leadership, the A&M System experienced many historic milestones, including a historic building boom for improved facilities at the system’s 11 universities and eight state agencies. The Board of Regents will conduct a national search in the coming months for Sharp’s successor.
