Student Spotlight: From Mariachi Performer to Jaguar Ambassador, Ruben Reyes is Thriving at A&M-San Antonio


Ruben Reyes has made the most of his time at A&M-San Antonio, from serving as a Jaguar Ambassador to performing with Mariachi Los Jaguares del Sur. Being involved in these and other activities has allowed Reyes to build a strong bond with the University. Read more.

Student Spotlight: Overcoming Self-doubt and Setbacks, Selena Martinez Will Soon Walk the Stage and Start Graduate School


Despite setbacks and self-doubt, Selena Martinez has used her time at A&M-San Antonio to gain confidence, acquire new skills and position herself for a successful future. A first-generation student, Martinez is set to graduate in December and was recently accepted at Texas A&M International University, where she plans to earn an MBA in international business. Elisa Avila Recognized as Rising Leader in Experiential Education


Elisa Avila, experiential and service-learning coordinator in the Mays Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement, was recognized with the Rising Leader in Experiential Education Award at the 52nd Annual Conference for the Society for Experiential Education. Avila collaborates with faculty, staff and community partners to facilitate experiential learning and training initiatives that enhance student outcomes. She also helps build meaningful partnerships and impactful learning experiences by promoting collaboration between community-based organizations, businesses and classrooms.

Annual Alumni Awards Honor Outstanding Achievements  


Texas A&M University-San Antonio celebrated the accomplishments of distinguished alumni at the annual Alumni Awards Alumni Awards Ceremony.

Brian Harrin '16 - Distinguished Alumni


Harrin is an intelligence specialist for the U.S. Air Force and a founding partner and licensed insurance agent with The Harrin Group. In addition, he's traveled to 18 countries and plans to visit Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam next year.

Juanita Sepulveda '11, '15, '16 - Spirit of the Jaguar



Sepulveda is CEO and partner at Vanyel Investments and sits on the board of several notable organizations, including serving as chair of the Small Business Economic Development Advocacy Committee.

Clayton Jaskinia '20 - Recent Graduate


Clayton Jaskinia is in his fourth year of teaching history at Edgewood ISD. Looking ahead, he plans to earn a master’s in curriculum and instruction and hopes to become a district social studies specialist.

Barragan Captures RRAC Women's Soccer Weekly Honors


Ana Barragan claimed the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Sept. 25-Oct. 1. Barragan scored six goals in a 1-0-1 week for the Jaguars. The sophomore forward from Brownsville, Texas, found the net five times in an 8-1 win over Paul Quinn College (Texas) on Thursday. Barragan also accounted for the university's lone goal to salvage a 1-1 tie with University of the Southwest (N.M.).
