HACEMOS has established a scholarship program to assist children of Hispanic origin and children of active HACEMOS members who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice. The HACEMOS Scholarship Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 HACEMOS Scholarship Program at https://learnmore.scholarsapply.org/hacemos/
 
Scholarship Application Deadline: February 28, 2019
 
Awards : HACEMOS will determine the award distribution for each chapter and for the national scholarship award. Recipients attending a two-year institution receive $1,500. Recipients attending a four-year institution receive $2,500. Awards are payable to the institution for the account of the student. Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Awards are for undergraduate study only.
 
Eligibility: Applicants must:
 
  • Be of Hispanic heritage OR be a dependent* child of an active HACEMOS member.

  • Current high school seniors, high school graduates, or current post-secondary undergraduates 25 years of age or younger as of the application deadline.

  • Plan to enroll in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, or university located in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, or any other U.S. territory for the 2019-2020 academic year.

  • Enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester in coursework leading to a degree.

  • Have a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale or equivalent).
 
*Dependent child is defined as a biological, stepchild or legally-adopted child living in the member's household or primarily supported by the member.
 
Open to DREAMers? There is no request for citizenship status.

The scholarships are provided through the HACEMOS Scholarship Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
 
Scholarship Program: This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or disability. The only mode of application will be a web-based e-application. The recipient selection process includes the consideration of academic performance, financial need, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside recommendation.

Candidates for the HITEC Foundation Scholarship Application should meet the following requirements:
  • Be of Hispanic heritage - at least one parent has to be of Hispanic descent
  • A graduating high school senior or current college student
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Major in a technology field
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident

Anhelo Project Dream Scholarship Application
Deadline: January 18, 2019
The Anhelo Project is for undocumented students in Illinois. “Our goal is to support undocumented students, many of whom despite growing up in the United States and earning a high school diploma, continuously face challenging roadblocks when pursuing a post-secondary education. One major obstacle being financial need due to ineligibility to apply for federal and state financial aid.”

McDonald’s HACER Scholarship
Deadline: February 4, 2019
The McDonald's HACER Scholarship provides financial assistance to graduating Hispanic high school students to fulfill their dreams of pursuing a higher education. Students are selected based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement. Scholarships range from $5,000 to $100,000.
 
AMS Minority Scholarships
Deadline: February 8, 2019
The AMS Minority Scholarship awards students who “have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students.” The two-year scholarship provides students with $3,000 for their freshmen year and $3,000 for their sophomore year.
 
National Association of Hispanic Journalists
Deadline: February 15
The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) offered five different scholarships in 2018 ranging between $1,500 and $5,000. “NAHJ scholarship opportunities are open to college-bound high school seniors, college undergraduates, and graduate students pursuing careers in English or Spanish-language print, broadcast, digital, or photojournalism. ”

ACS Scholars Program
Deadline: March 1, 2019
The ACS Scholars Program awards students who are Latino, African American, or American Indian. It’s open to students (high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, or juniors) who plan to or are majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or another chemical science field.
 
Actuarial Diversity Scholarship
Deadline: March 1, 2019
The Actuarial Diversity Scholarship offers an annual scholarship for African American/Black, Latino, Native American, and Pacific Islander students interested in the actuarial profession. The amount awarded varies, with high school seniors receiving $1,000, sophomores $2,000, juniors $3,000 and seniors $4,000.
 
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Deadline: March 30
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund has one goal: to “assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree.” The scholarship is open to high school seniors, undergrads, students transferring from community college to four-year universities, and graduate students. The 2019-2020 scholarships vary between $500 and $5,000.

Prospanica
Deadline: May 15
Prospanica Foundation’s Scholarships are designed for undergraduate and graduate students who want to achieve their full educational potential and make meaningful contributions to society. They are looking for entrepreneurial thinkers who know that true accomplishment is much more than individual success, it uplifts the entire Hispanic community. The scholarships vary between $2,000 to $5,000. The 2019 Scholarship Program will open March 11 – May 15, 2019
 
 
LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF)
Available: February 2019
A scholarship program cosponsored by some 70 LULAC Councils who raise scholarship funds at the grass roots level which are matched nationally by sponsoring corporations. The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), has considered education its number one priority since it was established in 1929. As part of LULAC’s education efforts, the LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) was established in 1975 to provide scholarships to Hispanic students attending colleges and universities. Under the LNSF program, local LULAC Councils, in partnership with local and national businesses, award scholarships to students in their communities. LNSF is administered by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc., a non-profit educational organization established by LULAC to provide educational programs for Hispanics and other youth.
 
  
MALDEF Scholarship Resources
Since MALDEF's founding, the civil rights organization has supported the next generation of civil rights advocates for the Latino community. MALDEF currently offers: a Scholarship Resource Guide for high school, college, and graduate students; and a Law School Scholarship Program for law students.
