NYSUT Women's Committee Shares "PowHERful" Message

NYSUT Executive Vice President Jolene DiBrango met virtually with the NYSUT Women's Committee in November to discuss women's rights and equality in our society. Women don’t have full reproductive rights, economic equality or equal access to health care. They don’t hold positions of power in equal proportion to their numbers. “Until women have equality in these areas, a women’s movement is still necessary,” said DiBrango. Read the full story here.

An Urgent Appeal for Donations to Support Our Health Care Workers

The federal CARES Act includes new charitable giving incentives for 2020 in an effort to help charitable organizations through this difficult time. Consider making a contribution to the NYSUT Disaster Relief Fund, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, to take advantage of this new tax benefit.

The Nassau Regional Office presents New and Early Career Conferences for educators who are brand new to the profession or are in their first five years of employment. These conferences address topics important to new and early career educators.

A series of one-hour online workshops are being offered throughout the year. In addition, NYSUT's Education and Learning Trust will host three seminars. Two of these seminars are requirements for certification. Cambridge Credit Counseling will run a student debt clinic.

We urge new and early career members to take advantage of this excellent opportunity.
