Homecoming brought a little sun and a lot of fun to the Hicksville community on Saturday, October 8th. Students, families and staff enjoyed great activities before the game. HCT raffled off a Nintendo Switch and raised almost $400 for the scholarship fund. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, and congratulations to Justina Ketyer on winning the prize! Teachers who volunteered gave out lollipops and took photos of people in front of our Homecoming photo wall. All funds raised at Homecoming go towards HCT scholarships for high school seniors. Thanks to all who volunteered to make this event a success!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk for the Cure
by Regina Daniel, School Psychologist, East Street
This year, the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk was held on Sunday, October 16th, 2022 at Jones Beach. The walk was well attended and raised funds for the American Cancer Society. The theme this year was "Be the I in the Strides". Keeping up with our tradition, my husband, daughters and I participated in the walk again this year. We walked on the boardwalk in a sea of pink; everyone dressed in pink outfits and accessories. People get so creative with their outfits and it is fun to watch. It is humbling to see how a common purpose and cause can bring so many people together. As always, people braved the cold and walked in the morning. However, it didn't stop the smiles on people's faces and didn't curb their enthusiasm. The walk gives hope and support to the countless previvors, survivors and people fighting breast cancer. I hope to walk again next year!

On Friday, October 14th Hicksville Schools were a sea of pink as the HCT held its annual Pink Out and raised $1048 for the American Cancer Society's lifesaving research and support services. Thank you to everyone who participated. Many thanks to Christine Anderson for ordering and distributing new t-shirts which helped fund this event.

The HCT is updating its tutor referral database. When a request for a tutor is received, we will contact members on the list who meet the criteria. It is up to the individual teacher to make arrangements as to times, fees and location. We cycle through the lists to ensure that everyone will have an opportunity to tutor. Replies must be made within 48 hours so that we can respond to requests in a timely manner. Once we hear back from you, we will forward the parent's phone number and student information.
If you are interested in participating in our tutor referral program or would like to continue tutoring, please complete this short form.
