August 2015

Happy 15th anniversary HTG! It's hard to imagine that we've been doing this thing we call HTG for that long on one hand. On the other hand, some days it feels like we've been doing it all my life.  Either way, it has been an amazing journey due mostly to the amazing people that we've met and walked with over those
15 years.

This month I want to slow down and take a look back at some of the key HTG memories over those years. So sit back and enjoy the ride through time as I reflect on some of the key moments along our journey. It hasn't always been smooth, and sometimes the plans a bit sketchy, but we've come a long way!

Here are some of my memories from the past 15 years:
  • Responding with Hands That Give to help HTG5 member John Motazedi and the SNC Squared team in the aftermath of the overwhelming disaster of the Joplin tornado.
  • Having the computer and projector fail in two different years while trying to deliver my HTG ALL keynote and having to "wing" it and go off script which always makes Scott Scrogin nervous (for good reason).
  • Zach Schuler trying to rent a van to take HTG2 on a city tour only to discover his license had expired, prompting him to call fellow HTG2'er Ed Laprade to come and rent the van.
  • Holding some of the first HTG content day events in a tent in the front yard of the TechnoFarm.
  • Mechanical bull riding at our awards banquet BBQ in Dallas.
  • Pulling up to the Hyatt Phoenix, just in time to see HTG2'er (now HTG1 member) Lyf Wildenberg being put into a police car after his rental car was reported as stolen.
  • The first time Bob Burg spoke and introduced HTG to his book The Go Giver, and watching it become a foundational part of our culture.
  • Scott Mallet's passing (HTG13 member who passed away at an early age in a scuba diving accident) and how his passing helped other HTG members get serious about their legacies.
  • Mission Arlington service projects in Dallas where we worked together to help a worthy cause: members, vendors, and the HTG team together.
  • Doing over 35 SWOTs at member companies throughout the years.
It's been a great journey and I'm glad to have been able to walk with you through the years.  Thanks for the friendship, the learning, the tears, and the memories!  See you in MSP!
