February 2025

Dear Habitat for Humanity,

As a quick reminder from last month's newsletter, I’m excited to personally invite you to our 25th Annual More Than Houses Event on Tuesday, March 11th, from 6-7:30 PM at the Monroe Convention Center.

This special evening will feature a buffet dinner, a cash bar, and an opportunity to celebrate the incredible impact we’ve made together in building affordable housing in Monroe County. I truly hope you’ll join us as we share inspiring stories, spark change, and continue strengthening our community.

The event is free to attend, and please be sure to register by this Friday, February 21. You can click here to register!

Whether or not you plan to attend, you can still make a difference by donating here. Your gift could benefit YOU through the Attainable Homeownership Tax Credit—an excellent way to give back while taking advantage of potential tax benefits. Plus, every gift made or pledged that evening will be MATCHED dollar-for-dollar, thanks to a generous supporter!

Meet Samantha: A Future Habitat Homeowner!

“When I really want something, there’s no stopping me.”

Samantha’s determination has helped her overcome many obstacles in life, especially when it comes to finding safe and accessible housing.

Six years ago, she moved to Bloomington in search of better public transportation and, therefore, more work opportunities and independence. However, she quickly discovered that there were very limited options for ADA-compliant housing. Despite the challenges, Samantha never gave up on finding a solution to meet her needs.

Now, through Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County, she is on the verge of owning a fully accessible and safe home, tailored to her needs. “It’s a dream come true,” she says, feeling grateful for the program and excited for the future.

Spreading the Love: Thank You to Our Amazing Supporters!

In the week leading up to Valentine’s Day, our staff took time to nominate and hand-deliver Valentines to some of our amazing partner organizations. While we were only able to deliver a few, every one of you is a valued member of the Habitat family.

To all of our incredible supporters—whether a partner organization or a charitable individual—we say this often because it’s true: our work wouldn’t be possible without you. We appreciate you more than words can express.

Thank you for helping us continue to expand affordable housing and strengthen our community.

Happy (belated) Valentine’s Day, and thank you for all you do!

Welcoming Our New Interns!

We’re excited to welcome our new interns for the Spring 2025 semester! Each one brings fresh ideas, unique skills, and vibrant energy to our growing team. Placed in different departments, our interns will have opportunities to collaborate and work on meaningful projects that will make a real impact.

We’re looking forward to supporting their growth and seeing how their enthusiasm and perspectives contribute to our work. It’s always a pleasure to welcome new faces into the Habitat family!
