Growing in faith and making a difference
Mission Circle thanks and appreciates each one of our volunteers who donates his or her time, talent, and treasure to support our mission to serve those in need. We have veteran volunteers who have volunteered for 40+ years and new volunteers who began just a month ago. Our volunteers continually tell us that the more they give of themselves, the more they are enriched. And...it’s FUN!

If you’ve been thinking about enriching your life by volunteering an hour or more, please look at the opportunities on our website at missioncircle.com or call the contacts below. We have a volunteer match for anyone’s time and talent!
Volunteer Leadership Needed:
If you signed up for an event at our information table on Mission Circle Sunday but haven’t heard from us yet, please call or text Shirley Giese at 858.349.8731 and she’ll get you connected to the right person. We sincerely appreciate each of you!

We look forward to serving with you!

Cookies for KAIROS
Prisoners Taste the Sweetness of the Lord
While prison food satisfies hunger, it is nothing like the combination of God’s word and home-baked cookies to really nurture body and soul. That’s why for many years home-baked cookies have been an integral part of the Kairos Prison Ministry retreats at the R.J Donovan Correctional facility in Otay Mesa. The prisoners may come to the retreat simply hoping to snag some delicious cookies; they end the weekend discovering fellowship with other prisoners and a merciful, loving God.

Last year St. James provided more than 650 dozen cookies for the Kairos effort. We will once again be collecting cookie donations at all the masses (except 6 P.M.) on October 12-13. Please package your frozen homemade cookies (no packaged or bar cookies; please indicate if they contain nuts) in clear, zip-lock freezer bags so that they may be inspected at the prison. New this year: no more than one dozen cookies per bag. The prisoners savor the cookies and leave the retreat with Christ in their hearts. You can share the warmth of Christ’s love by simply baking and bagging one dozen cookies!
