Dress Code Reminders and Updates
Flip flops and sleeveless shirts are perfect for enjoying a warm day outside, but for your safety, they are not allowed in Second Harvest's warehouse or kitchens. As a reminder, volunteers in Food Sorting and Community Meals must wear closed toe shoes and shirts that are not cropped or tanks.
Community Meals has new additional guidelines for volunteers:
The following personal items should be removed prior to entering the kitchen:
- All bracelets and watches
- Large earrings (small hoops and studs are okay)
- Large facial piercings (such as large hoops, chains, etc.; small hoops and studs are okay)
- Necklaces that cannot be tucked into tops
- Air pods, earbuds, or headphones
Additionally, Health Department regulations do not permit the wearing of false eyelashes in meal preparation kitchens. Thank you for following these guidelines to help ensure we are meeting required food safety standards!
Volunteers Needed in the Kitchen!
Summer is right around the corner, and that means our Community Meals team is gearing up for our Summer Meals program! From the end of May through mid-August, our kitchen will be producing 101,000 additional meals! We're going to need lots of extra hands to make this possible, and we would love to see you, your friends and family members, and coworkers come together to help ensure kids have the fuel they need to grow, play, and thrive while they're out of school for the summer.
