Please mark your calendars and let your friends and networks know! IN THE NEWS...

Recognizing Library Champions!

Two of our church members in the Diocese were recently recognized by the Hawai'i State Library System for their work in support of our public libraries. They are Matthew Brown (The Cathedral of St. Andrew) and Nadine Nakamura (All Saints' Church). The story and photos are from the Hawai'i State Public Library System newsletter:

Each February, the Friends of the Library of Hawaiʻi (FLH) recognize the library staff who provide outstanding service to their communities. Awardees were nominated by library patrons and selected by a Friends committee. In addition, the group acknowledges its Volunteers of the Year and names a Legislator of the Year to say mahalo to a champion in the State Legislature. Join us in celebrating and congratulating this year’s winners!

LIBRARIAN OF THE YEAR

Matthew Brown, Managing Librarian, Library for the Blind and Print Disabled

Matt has a passion for ensuring access to reading for everyone. He’s started book groups, a Dungeons and Dragons program, and conducted several kanikapila sessions for library patrons. Keiki across the state know him as Santa Matt and enjoy his stories during the holiday season! He is pictured with Governor Josh Green.

LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR

House Speaker Nadine K. Nakamura

Speaker Nadine K. Nakamura, House District 15, was named Legislator of the year for her strong support for the recent Princeville Public Library renovations and for identifying a location for a new library in Kapaʻa, one outside of the inundation zone. She is pictured with Stacey A.
