Bishop's Farewell Tour Begins!

Bring photos & don't forget to RSVP

Bishop Bob's Farewell Tour kicks off this Saturday, June 13, at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Honolulu. Although intended for churches in this region (Epiphany, Good Samaritan, St. Clement's, St. Mark's & St. Mary's) any member in the diocese is invited to attend, especially if you are not available on other dates. We ask that all planning to attend to RSVP so that the host church has an estimate of how many people to expect.

There will also be a scrapbook for folks to leave a message and to paste special photos with the Bishop. For those unable to make any of the gatherings, you may still upload photos and leave a message through the RSVP form by clicking HERE or scanning the QR code on the flyer. If you have any questions about the Farewell Tour, contact Rae Costa HERE, or visit the Search & Transition webpage HERE.

CONVENTION 58: Transitions

With the Special Meeting of Convention now over, our focus shifts to Convention 58, taking place October 16 & 17, 2026, at 'Iolani School. Friday consists of Education Day, the Convention Eucharist, and a very special farewell reception for Bishop Bob, called Ka Ha‘alele ‘Ana. Saturday will be the Annual Meeting of Convention, and Bishop Bob's final meeting as Bishop Diocesan.

The theme for Convention 58 is "Transitions" as the Diocese looks toward many changes over the next year with a new Bishop. The convention logo features the flame of the Holy Spirit against the backdrop of a sunrise and sunset, an analogy of the two careers intersecting on the horizon. More information will be posted as it is made available on the event webpage HERE.

Save the date!

Annual Clergy Conference on Kaua'i in August

The Diocese of Hawai'i's annual Clergy Conference will be taking place on the Garden Island of Kaua'i, August 24-26, 2026. The Guest Speaker will be the Rev. Rachel Taber-Hamilton, who was a guest speaker at last year's HULI Summer Speaker Series. With this being Bishop Bob's final clergy gathering as Bishop Diocesan, he encourages all clergy to attend. The Conference will be taking place at the Outrigger Beach Resort & Spa, minutes from the Lihue airport! Be sure to save the dates and look for more information coming soon!

SEEKING DONATIONS & VOLUNTEERS!

Over 150 youth and chaperones from Province VIII will be heading to Hawai'i where we will be hosting delegations from the dioceses of Arizona, California, Idaho, Navajoland, Nevada, Olympia, San Diego, Spokane, Utah, Western Oregon, and even Taiwan! 15 youths from our diocese will be participating, including seven making the journey from Guam and Saipan! The Provincial Youth Event (PYE) will be held this summer, July 28 - 31, on the grounds of The Cathedral of St. Andrew and St. Peter's "on the Square."

With expenses currently exceeding $20K over original budgeted amounts, due in part to grants that haven't materialized, the Diocese is seeking your support through donations that can be made HERE or through the linked donation button shown. We are also seeking churches or groups to help with lunches on Tuesday (July 28), a hot breakfast on Thursday (July 30), and ToGo lunches on Friday (July 31). AT THE CATHEDRAL...

Dean Heather's Final Sunday with The Cathedral of St. Andrew

Sunday, June 7, 2026, was the Very Rev. Heather Patton-Graham's final service at The Cathedral of St. Andrew as their Dean. So filled with emotion, she asked Canon Nicholas Keone Lee, their Director of Music, to read her sermon at the 10:00 a.m. service. It also included hand-drawn pictures that she shared during the reading of her sermon. You can watch that service in its entirety on the Cathedral's YouTube channel HERE. In a closing note to the Cathedral 'ohana in a weekly newsletter, she shared:

Ten years in this diocese. Six years as your priest. A thousand moments I will carry always: the prayers, the grief, the laughter in the sacristy and sanctuary, the baptisms, weddings, and the burials and gravesides, the ordinary Sundays that turned out not to be ordinary at all…COVID Christmases and Easters…and the gloriousness of all of it.

Hear me, again, as I offer my celebration and praise for the Cathedral staff – fierce in love, mighty in resolve, and small in number – and my deep gratitude to Bishop Bob for the invitation, the ask, to come and serve at St. Andrew’s.

I go to Richmond trusting that what God has begun here will continue — in you, in this Cathedral, in the ministry we have shared with our neighbors and our schools and our broader community. I go with my hands full and my heart likewise.

Mahalo nui loa & Aloha 'Oe Heather! You will be deeply missed!
