I can shake off everything as I write;

my sorrows disappear,

my courage is reborn.

~Anne Frank

Good moning,

Have you ever reached the end of the day and wondered, "Why am I so exhausted?"

Not just physically—but deep in your bones. Your mind feels foggy, your patience is thin, and your heart feels heavy. You did everything you were supposed to do. You checked off the to-do list, cared for the people who needed you, met your responsibilities...yet something still feels off.

The truth is, we spend so much of our lives doing that we rarely give ourselves permission to simply be.

We live in a world that applauds pushing through, staying busy, and carrying on. But sometimes what we need isn't more effort.

It's a pause.

A moment to breathe.

A chance to feel what we've been carrying before it becomes too heavy to hold.

For me, writing has become that pause.

When I sit down with my journal, I'm giving myself permission to slow down long enough to notice what's happening beneath the surface. Thoughts that have been quietly swirling begin to make sense. Stressors I've been carrying without realizing it find their way onto the page. Emotions I've been avoiding finally have space to be acknowledged.

Sometimes tears come.

And that's okay.

Those tears are often a release. It's as though my body has been holding onto tension that simply needed a safe place to let go.

Other times, I discover that I've been stuck in a loop of negative thinking. Writing allows me to gently step back and ask, Is there another way to see this? I can challenge the stories I've been telling myself, shift my perspective, and reconnect with what is true.

Not every journal entry is about hard things.

Some days it's about celebrating a small win that I might have otherwise overlooked. It's a place to record moments of gratitude, unexpected joy, or a simple reminder that life is still full of beauty, even in challenging seasons.

Writing helps us uncover what we've been carrying. It gives our thoughts somewhere to land. It helps us name our feelings instead of pushing them aside. It invites perspective when we're overwhelmed and clarity when life feels noisy.

The page doesn't judge.

It simply listens.

And sometimes that's exactly what we need.

Perhaps that's why we write.

Not because we have all the answers.

But because writing helps us find them.

One word, one page, one honest moment at a time.

Things to ponder...

  • What have I been carrying that I haven't made time to acknowledge?
  • What emotion has been asking for my attention?
  • What story am I telling myself that might need a different perspective?
  • What is one thing I can celebrate today?
  • What am I grateful for in this moment?

Wishing you a week of light, love and laughter,

Lisa
