Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols for Christmas
On Sunday, December 22 at 5 p.m., the Choirs of St. James will offer a Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols for Christmas. Begun at Truro Cathedral in England 100 years ago, this service has become an annual holiday tradition throughout the world. Nine lessons from Scripture are used to tell the story of the coming of the Messiah.

This year's service at St. James will feature music of David Willcocks, Benjamin Britten, Harold Darke, Elizabeth Poston, and Paul Manz.

The service will be followed by a champagne & shortbread reception at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall Parlor. The nursery will be open beginning at 4:45 p.m. For more information, please contact Shannon Gallier, Director of Music.

This gave our classes an opportunity to learn about what kindergarten was like in the northern part of the country and to share a little bit of our southern culture.

The students from Minnesota wrote our classes letters and sent us gingerbread girls or boys telling a little about themselves ..."
