Greetings!
In Hebrews Chapter 10, the author talks about the importance of gathering as a church family. We need one another - for support, for encouragement, and for teaching. Covid-19 has definitely created some obstacles this year, but we pray that you continue to remain connected as a church family. Reach out to one another. Support one another. Encourage one another. When you feel comfortable, we will be excited to see you back in our building.
We are scheduling different ways for us to safely gather as a church family. Make plans to swing by Saturday evening to pick up your fall Sunday School material and a sno-cone. We'd love to see you! Read on to learn about other things at Baring Cross!

On Sunday, August 23, the Stewardship Team brought a recommendation before the church to refinance our church loan with Arkansas Bank and Trust. This motion was unanimously approved by our church members.
We want to thank the members of the Stewardship Team, Ron Talkington, Rieta Murchison, Ricky Arman, Lisa Wilson, Barbara Bivings, and Robbie Robinette for their work the past several weeks. They have served our church well. If you have any questions about specifics, please feel free to contact the church office or any team members. Thank you for your continued support of Baring Cross.

Have any of you ridden a roller coaster? If you have, you know that there’s a mixture of feelings you can experience along the way: excitement, fear, nausea, danger, relief, and many others. Some rides take you slowly up a hill and then plunge you down the other side. Some even loop upside down or stop and go backwards. You might have fun, be scared, feel like throwing up, or any combination of things at the same time. Well, these past few weeks have been like that for our Youth Group. Students are going back to school, but this year is unlike any other. Some are excited to go back, some are anxious, and some really don’t know what to think about their new school situation.
On August 13, the youth met at church for Dinner and a Movie. This low-key event to hang out (at a distance) had an awesome turnout of 18 students! Several of our teens invited friends, and I’ve already heard how much fun they had and how they are looking forward to coming back. All of that was really encouraging.
Six days later on the 19th, one of our youth parents, LaShonda Galmore passed away. She was a single mom of 4 kids, and she had just turned 40 the day before. This loss has been devastating to her family, her friends, and our church. She loved her family, she loved the Lord, and we can’t help wondering why her time on earth is over. Even when so many people depended on her, and she didn’t know how she could do everything that needed to be done, she depended on the grace and provision of God to carry her through.
The thing about roller coasters is that even if you get thrown around, turned upside down, and scared out of your mind, you will be ok. There are safety measures in place to keep you from flying off the rails, and there is equipment installed to keep you from falling to the ground. That’s the way it’s designed. If we took a ride without those things, we would be taking our life in our own hands. While we can’t predict how our lives are going to go, we do know there are always going to be ups and downs. While we are on this ride, we need to trust that the Designer loves us and will take care of us, regardless of what happens.
